Hi my name is Debbie and I am a newbie. I have posted a few times so I am not that new?!

Anyways I have developed a lump in my gland under my right ear below the jaw yesterday. This lump was the size of a pea, and this morning its doubled in size and hurts like heck.  I am going to my doctor at 2 pm for her to take a look at it.

I have learned since being diagnosed with SJ in 2004, don't get excited about things because things will happen off and on through our walk with SJ.

I have had bouts with vasculitis, and had Graves disease and have gotten all of that under control with keeping my sanity.

I just wanted you, my new friends to say a prayer for me on this new adventure I am on.

Your the greatest people I have ever found and I thank God for each one of you!

I will post later as to what the next step will be for me.

God bless, Debbie 8)

Hi Debbie:

Sorry to hear about the lump..do you feel different otherwise, as you might have possibly come down with a virus or infection?  It's possible this is a swollen gland from that.  I have gone through spates of swollen, painful parotid and other neck glands, and it seems to come and go, especially in the area you describe.  I have not yet been diagnosed with SjS or anything to explain it.

I know it hurts, and it's frightening that it would happen that fast, but it's excellent that you will get to see a doctor so soon.  It's very likely that it will be something that will go away as quickly.

Will think good thoughts for you today,
Sheila

Debbie,

I get something similar to what you discribed.  It kind of comes and goes, nobody seems to know for sure what it is, but it has been a problem for over 5 years, so it can't be too serious.

Please let us know how everything goes and if your doctor gives you a dx.  Try not to let this get you're head all twisted, it's probably nothing serious, easier said than done, I know.

Good luck Debbie, and try not to worry.  As the others said, easier said than done, but please try.

I will keep you in my prayers and thoughts for a good report.  I hope it subsides quickly and the pain goes with it.

Hugs, Pooh

Hi everyone,

First of all let me thank you all for the notes of encouragement and prayers.

Things are going to be just fine!!! I have a bad infection in my Lymph node or that gland under the ear, (I can't think of the name right now)  That gland has caused me some discomfort before that I have to massage it, I am sure you guys have those issues to with your SJ.
I am on some real nasty pills that make me sick, but the doctor was quite impressed that I had no fever, because she says most people who get this infection are in the hospital....

I feel very blessed and happy.  It does help you not to get to excited about things especially when you have SJ, because you never know what is coming down the next path at you.  I always try and keep positive and try not to let fear take over my life.  But I have one question for you all if anyone knows what I should do.

I am on Enbrel and I know if you have an infection you should not take, I forgot to ask the Dr about this, but I can call the pharmacy who sends me the medication and ask them.  Do you all recommend I do that?

Well thanks again friends for your support, your the greatest!

luv Debbie!

Glad to hear you are being treated and not in the hospital over it...
I will still keep you in my prayers as i do all my SJS friends...
this family we have here ROCKS!!!!

Hi Debbie, just an add on... If you know that your not to take Enbrel when there is infection , then of course dont!
just to make double sure ring the pharmacy for advice...I often do this as sometimes , when one is at the Doc's it's easy
(well for me )  to forget everything he said..   Pleased to hear it was nothing worse than infection , altho' thats bad enough!     Good Luck Dolly x
