Numb, white middle finger?! What the...?

Okay, as if I haven't already asked enough questions about my weird issues...
Tonight, I went out for groceries and took the bus, which meant I also walked a couple of blocks and waited outside for maybe 20 minutes in the cold rain.  I doubt that this is relevant, but I haven't been outside in 2 weeks because I've been sick, recovering from a bad cold since Xmas.
After the first few minutes, in spite of having TWO pairs of gloves on, (I had been dx'd with Raynaud's years ago, and my hands tend to get cold easily and then hot as they warm up, but nothing too terrible,) my hands felt as if I'd taken the gloves off and exposed my hands then put them back on.  I thought it was odd since I've been out this winter before when it was even colder for even longer.  But the REALLY weird thing was that when we got on the bus, I took my gloves off and the middle finger of my right hand was BLANCHED!!  Just that finger, and it was somewhere between numb and tingly, like frostbite.  About 5 minutes later, it started to slowly turn normal color, from the hand up, but then the tip, especially the back of it, was still devoid of color for a few more minutes despite rubbing and blowing on it.  Also, all of my fingertips (not the nail side,) were "withered" looking, as if I'd had them in water.
Nothing like that has ever happened before, and it wasn't because of anything like the gloves being too tight on that fingers.

What do you think of this?

Hi BeBe

I get this an awful lot - just one or two fingers on either hand can be affected - particularly if I've been carrying something.  It's part of my Reynauds and I normally put my hands in warm water to bring them back to normal again.  It's always as well to check with your doctor though just in case it is anything else.

Bebe,
I was given a diagnosis of Raynauds on Monday (probably most here have?) The Dr saw my hands turn a bright red, but asked if they ever turned blue or white, (which they have not that I have noticed), he mentioned that red white or blue are all part of Raynauds and to watch for that. It kind of sounds like that is what happened especially since you already have that diagnosis but you may want to double check with your Dr..  He said the first line of defense is to not get cold (har har) but there are medications available to return the circulation (which I was not interested in as it is not that serious for me) and he also suggested that there are some natural herb supplements that help return circulation also, so maybe you want to visit your Dr and speak to him/her about this.

I kind of figured it was some sudden, new manifestation of Raynaud's, but wondered if it might be something else autoimmune related like some kind of neuropathy or something.  It's just weird that it was this extreme all of a sudden after almost 20 years since I've been having the Raynaud's symptoms!
I have an appt. with my GP in 10 days, anyway- I called and said that my sudden weight gain NEEDS to be ADDRESSED, as well as my 140/90 RESTING BP, which got me in at the earliest appt. time.  I took pics of my hand, too, and even though they're really blurry because we were on the bus, you can still see the color differences between my fingers.
Wow, this year, SO many new and different things have hit me!

Hi Bebe

I was diagnosed with Raynauds last month. My symptoms are mainly in my feet, but I had an experience with my hands where, like you, I had gloves on and my hands were so cold. When I went inside and started to warm up (very painfully!) I took the gloves off and my hand was white, but evry finger was bright red. It was weird.

Anyway, I've been taking amlodipine for just over two weeks, as the GP was shocked at the appearance of my white feet and legs. It doesn't seem to be helping much yet, but then it can take several weeks to get into the system. However, it has lowered my blood pressure. It has previosuly fluctated, but still high sometimes, around 170/100. Tonight it was 137/83, which for me, is wonderful.

I hope you get some treatment soon.
