Bummer-I missed it again.  Do you know what season that ran?  I'm wondering if maybe I couldn't rent it from Blockbuster or something.  I'm curious to see how he treated Sjs.

I keep missing it, but then again I'm living the Sjogren's hellish nightmare, so do I really need to see it?

Gurs, thanks for giving us the tip-off about this show.  Fortunately, I saw your post in time to catch the show.  Well, first I'm glad Sjogrens was "featured" on any show.  It didn't say Sjogrens right up until the end.  House MD said, "chapped, cracked lips and dry eyes."  Sjogrens!  The show had about 15 different things going on as far as disease ideas as the hour went on.  The patient did mention great fatigue in the beginning of the show.

To my dismay, it had to be women kissing (I don't like any hot displays of affection hetero or homesexual on tv).  The woman who was a medic (either MD or a nurse) had been frequenting bars picking up females.  The patient with Sjogrens had the disease and one could almost think it was a sexually transmitted disease.  I do not think so, but I can imagine where someone could because there was so much talk of sex and sex scenes.

I guess my dismay is exactly how tv has come to portray every day people.  Happy for the Sjogrens mention though.  I called my daughter and sister and made them watch.  Lucy

This episode was from this new season (2008) sure they will rerun it again, only wish I could have caught it sooner to let others know. It didnt provide alot of info...House told the gal to take some methylprednisone, and some tears for the eyes and she would be fine..if only it were that easy. Oh well, guess we should be glad they even mentioned it..

I agree, they really glossed over the treatment part.  They made it sound like it was no big deal at all.  I'm grateful they mentioned Sjogren's at all, but I was really put off and embarrassed about the kissing/yeast connection and it really did make it seem like a sexually transmitted disease.  My husband watched it with me and I assured him I was not having any mouth problems and would certainly protect him from any issues I might have in the future.  He didn't seem very concerned, but just the same, I'm going to discuss this with my RD and see just how common this particluar "kissing issue" is.

I'm in the UK so still not seen it - good it is getting even a little recognition.

I've been recently watching "House," never had before, to see that episode because they show reruns nearly every night, and wouldn't you know, last night, we'd gone out.  Anyway, we just downloaded it from some website and I watched it later.

I thought the handling of it was bizarre, as are most of that shows "cases," but definitely didn't like the way House and 13 minimized the diagnosis.  "You're gonna be okay!"  Really?!  So if my friends or family watch that and believe, like so many, that "Dr. House" is a "real" doctor and the issues are "life-like," then they are also going to think that I'm "gonna be okay!?"  But on the other hand look how many things that poor character went through (while being "okay!") lol.

BTW,tThe reason 13 had dry lips was from her inhaler- House didn't mean that she "got" candida from Spencer.

I still think there was so much sex either visually or suggestive that is was not clear this isn't a disease that's not sexually transmitted.  I agree it was very bizarre the way it was presented.  Lucy

I agree...I watched some old "House" reruns on USA network, and just loved the show..made me forget about all my health issues for a moment. This season, and this episode just
tacky...should be on TV after 10:00pm at least..

LoL, is it the sex or just the fact that it's girl on girl that bothers you guys, because there are a ton of worse sex scenes between heteros on ALL THE TIME.  Desperate Housewives, for example, not to mention any afternoon soap...
Personally, I didn't think it was even AS offensive as most of those, if I was to compare, but none of it offends me, anyway, even though I find it boring to watch.

Girl on Girl, really!  When does this episode run again?  Guys, come on, it's a TV show starring a drug addled Doctor, like a hospital is really going to let someone that they know is abusing drugs practice at their hospital.  This stuff is so redonkulous, next your going to tell me that reality TV shows are real.

First of all, our lives are not filled with all the sexual exploits depicted on TV.  Why?  Most of use are to busy working 10 and 12 hour days, driving kids around to soccer, basketball and judo lessons, to do anything other then sleep when we are not working 12 hour days, driving kids around to soccer, basketball and judo lessons would be too exhausting.

This crap is worse for your brain then Sjogren's is for your body

That's too bad that others don't, (or might not,) be having the kind of fun depicted on TV.  I know I went through a phase where I did a lot of stuff like what I see on TV all of the time, and I know plenty of people who did, too, and who still are, but then, I don't hang out with the soccer set, who, I guess, don't have sex? ;)

As for "Dr. House," it REALLY irks ME that they call him a "drug addict."  He's NOT.  He has chronic pain and he manages it with medication, the only thing he CAN do.  He doesn't take the meds because he enjoys them!  He doesn't walk around high from them, either.  Why do people think that a person is an addict when they take a drug for the reasons for which they were CREATED?  Just because he had withdrawel when he stopped is no proof of addiction, it's only proof of tolerance, which happens to anyone, addict or not, who's on a drug like that for a long period of time. Sheesh.
