sinus infection

    I have a question. I have Sjogrens and abou t4 days ago I had a slight sinus problem. I took some advil sinus and used my nettie pot was ok. Sunday morning next day I woke up and I could hardly breath out of my nose had a slight fever. My nettie pot would not work because there was a stopage. I had a headach ect. fever chills it was like it just hit me so hard. I finally later in the day called the on call dr. his office was open and I went to see himm I had a sinus infection and he put me on Cfdinir 300 mg and MucinexDM and a nose spray. It in now Tuesday and I feel almost worst. Still have fever off and on chiils. have a terriable pressure headach and now both ears hurt. and when I cough its in my chect. I called my dr. pc and told the nurse maybe i need a stonger attib. she said it must be a viris. but I had her ask the Dr. he said to wait another 42 hours to see if it went away. I have never had this happen to me before.usally when the dr. gives me an atibo. it works almost right away. Any comments out there. I am just a little concerned this will turn into something else.

Hi Theresa 

Some sjoggies are plagued by sinus infections but having SjS doesn't mean we can't pick up viruses too, so it's hard to second guess the doctor. If it is a virus - no antibiotic will help. Too many antibiotics can make you resistant to them when you really need them but I'm sure you know that already.

If things don't ease off get back to your doc and see if they'll take a swab to identify what's wrong.

I'm sorry you're in so much pain and hope you get some relief soon. Does paracetamol help the pain or fever at all?

     I wanted to thank you guys for your replys sending a hug back to you.  My daughter told me the drs. office called while I was out. would not leave a message. I feel somewhat better. How can a person have so much mucus!!!!!!! My right ear hurts too. oh well. at least I feel better. Thanks again
