I haven't read it yet, but wanted to post this so you all could read it too.  I know we are all hoping the BCG vaccine can cure SJS in humans as it did in mice.  The Diabetes type 1 trial is still in phase 1.  Hopefully, it will cure diabetes type 1, then us.

My apologies if this has previously been posted.

I don't see anything new, except the January 2010 date.

Thanks for posting Cathy

Actually I read a whole lot of news in that Winter Update.

Seems they have recently confirmed in the lab that the same BCG mechanism that they proved works in mice works with human cells....big news..and adds to the hope.

They are now well into the phase 1 of the trial.

This is the biggest hope at the moment perhaps for many AI's including Sjogren's and Diabetes.

Thanks for sharing

What I find really interesting (for those that follow research), is that Faustman believes elevating TNF-Alpha (for the short term) will benefit the patient and his/her Autoimmunity...which most know the currently held view is TNF Alpha is implicated in systemic Autoimmune Diseases across the whole AI disease spectrum (in a pro-inflammatory way)...and some patients/members of this forum are taking Immunosuppressants such as Enbrel which are Anti TNF !....this if Faustman is right would make TNF Alpha produced by the body an interesting Paradox..

I simply hope she is right.

Cheers

I have RA as a primary and SjS as a secondary. I say this because I was on TNF lockers for over almost 2 years before they switched me to Rituxan then to Orencia. I was dx while I was taking the TNF blockers, so maybe it only helps those that are primary? IDK, the more I know, the more confused I get.
