Just wanted to post and let everyone know that I had a blood test that was negative and then had 2 lip biopsies - just notfied I am negative with no signs of the disease -

The only reason I am posting this is for those who are being treated who never had a lip biopsy....

I honestly believe my dry mouth was caused by taking too many aspirin and stress...

Good news for you Tim, and glad that your dry mouth is better  :) I won't bore you with my views on lip biopsies, (which most on here  probably know), but many people with Sjogrens symptoms and negative bloodwork (and maybe neg lip biopsies as well) need treatment to improve their quality of life.

Good luck for the future,

Hi Tim,
I an glad you and your mouth are doing well!
You bring up a good point about dry mouth and medications.

My Sjogren like symptoms have mostly been brought under control  ( ANA= 320 this month, lowest in 2 years) and my dry mouth (mostly at night) is completely gone.

It could be plaquenil BUT some time ago I quit all my vitamins (among them an amino acid complex called ALL Basic) and my wet mouth slowly came back.   I then restarted the vitamins and the dry mouth came back!!!!  Quitting the vitamins the wet mouth came back almost immediately!!!!

Also,  there seems to be a relationship between other medications and dry mouth for me.

I am wondering out loud if I have reactions to chemical changes in my body.  I asked my doc about this and he told me I was crazy (my words,  he was more diplomatic).

Perhaps a thread on side effects of medications would be in order?

Hi Tim  :)

Good news that you don't have SjS then!  I hope your dry mouth sorts itself out and you find a way of reducing your stress levels.

Take care - Scottie  :)

Hi Tim,

I'm also glad that you don't have SJS!!  I'm thankful for your info about what vitamins do for you, I don't take many vitamins anymore as I found them to cause more headaches, body aches, and the like.  Other than the 50,000 units of D, I only take a combined Vitamin B mainly for the daily stress (every other day or so).

Don't get me started on the lip biopsies, I so don't think much of them either (and I do have a permanent numb area on my lower lip now because of the one I had done).  As much gripping as I've done to him, the rheumy asked me to repeat that test, and you can imagine what I told him (and it wasn't pleasent either, I wasn't my usual loveable self! :D).

Travel well my friend,

Patze

I'm so glad you don't have Sjogren's!  That is great news.  I hope you will find a way to alleviate stress and return to good health.
