Not enough humidity in the air today

I knew I lived in an arid climate, but today just shocked the socks off me. I felt awful all day, I had a sinus headache, it hurt to take a deep breath, and i felt weak, tired etc. On the news I heard the humidity was a whopping 7%, no typo. 7%. I might be able to controll the humidity in my house, but what do I do if I need to go out ? My son is already complaining because I have the heat turned way down because it dries out my eyes and makes my nose bleed; and when we are in the car, no heat or air conditioner.

Collie,

We've been down to under 30% humidity this week and we're all feeling it. Dogs coughing, hubby too. Time to get out the humidifier, it's a new process for us having lived here only 4 years .
Dr. recommended using it but only to get it up to over 40%. Need to do it before I dry up totally and just blow away.

Hi Collie,
I see this is really a problem.  I slept in the chair, again, this time with a humidifier on me.  And you have to understand that we have snow and ice outside!  So our humidity is very high, 100% and it still doesn't do enough.  We have a humidifier on our furnace and I keep checking it thinking its not working.  I just feel like jumping in a pool to soak up the water.  ::)  Take care.

Designer     ps. the water dept. just came to my door to tell me our water will be shut off for 6 hours. LOL

Hi Collie,
I totally relate, I'm in New England and yesterday there was 15% humidity in my apartment.  Its raining today so I feel better. I love the winter, but I have electric heat now and boy is it dry... even with the humidifiers on... but I still love my cozy robe and hot 'sugar free' chocolate...

My big old console humidifier runs all day and just barely gets it up to 28%.

I hate that loud fan, but I finally admitted to myself that it helps.

HMMMM...hmmmmmm......
