Hi group.
I joined last summer after getting diagnosed with Sjogren's. I was doing a different type of treatment plan per my new rheum and y'all asked for an update. I've been receiving anti-biotic therapy/supplement for 4 months now. I've also been put on a wheat and red meat free diet, and have also been asked to avoid highly sugared food as well as eat preservative free foods. You'd think there was nothing left to eat wouldn't you!  :D But it's fine really, I have slipped up here and there, and when I do I feel it! This plan is working really well for me.

The Dr said to avoid these foods and chemicals because they cause an inflammatory response from your immune system. If you can avoid them, you avoid aggravating you immune system. The antibiotic functions as  an anti inflammatory that has been gentle on my organs, I am off Imuran! whoo hoo! .
Take care

Good for you, Missy! It's so nice to hear of a treatment that works well for someone. I've made myself familiar with the "anit-inflam" diet, and as it turns out, I've been basically following it most of my adult life...I shudder to think how I'd feel if I did eat sugar, processed foods or red meat! Oddly enough, when I tried wheat free, my symptoms became quite aggressive, so I guess I'll stick with that particular "irritant". Just goes to show what a highly individual disease this can be.

Please continue to keep us informed of your successes...it's a light at the end of a very dark tunnel for a lot of people.
