Some more bad days...

I was on a roll for a couple of weeks without the aches and pains.  I had some dry mouth, but even that calmed down.  Friday came with some rain and along came the aches and pains in my feet, ankles and calves.  I have to stand slowly as I have almost fallen twice.  I'm not sure if this is  just a spell, the rainy weather, the tapering of the prednisone (to 5 mg/day) or a combination of them all.  i'm still taking the plaquenil and I'm not certain i'm getting the full kick of it since beginning in july or august. Anyways..... I was doing good ... and sighs...... kind of struggling for a couple days.

Dave:

This disease seems to wax and wane - I'll be having some good days and sailing along and then wham, it flares up again.

I should keep a symptom diary like a lot of forum members recommend and then it might be possible to connect the dots and figure out if anything I might be doing contributes to the good days and keep doing that!

I hope you soon see better days!  Maybe as you say, your body is just adjusting to the lower pred dose or maybe you should be tapering the dose even more slowly.

Or maybe you are under more stress as the holiday approaches and demands ratchet up - stress seems to set this disease off too.

Hi Dave

Sorry you're feeling rough again. I don't think cold damp weather helps, I must admit - but then neither does hot sunshine! Hope you get better days again soon.

take care - Scottie  :)

Never do tomorrow what you can put off till the day after tomorrow!

Hi Dave,
I think you will find the weather has a lot to do with the way you feel.  I know I can tell when bad weather is coming, I hurt all over and then some.  Tapering your Prednisone doesn't help either.

I hope you stay warm and find comfort from Plaquenil real soon.  You have only been on it for 3 or 4 months, give it another 6 - 8 weeks before you give up on it.  It took almost 7 months to realize the difference for me.  But life is so much better with it, than without it.

Hey Dave,

Good times come and good times go.

I am such an optimist, when I am on a roll of good times, I convince my self I may never have a flare again. Then I am very disappointed when a flare hits.

I believe weather definitely brings it on. I also think that when our bodies are fighting winter hazards of germs, that it confuses our imunes into fighting harder thus causing flares.  This is just my own little theory.

Hope you get better soon.

Warm tub bathes and warm rice bags or such help.
Rest when you are in a flare is essential

Sometimes the flares are quite random. But stress, including any change in routine or conditions (for good or ill), can trigger a flare. I do remember you saying at one point you were doing better (and my memory has become quite random as well, so that is sheer luck).

Oh well, think of how much practice we all get at going with the flow.

Sorry you are having a bad time these days, but what the others say is so true; some days are better than others.  If nothing else, that should be some encouragement, knowing better days are coming. Give the medication time to work; we live in an instant society, and expect everything to be done or happen instantly, unfortunately everything does not work that way. Hope you are feeling better soon.

many thanks everyone.  I don't think I like to complain much about it but, yeah..... I was doing so good for awhile.

I have keeping a daily journal since i had the itchy hives and change in meds.  The doc asked me questions that i really didn't have answers for........it was all guesses.  So, I am using Google Documents to insert a sentence or three for each day.  i can access that anywhere and not have to carry a notebook.

be well, thanks.....and smiles

Hey Dave,

My right hip is the most accurate weather predicter in the world. If there is rain within kooee my hip knows about it and tells me.

Sorry to hear you're having a few down days. Hopefully they will be few and not bother you too bad.
Be careful with standing so you dont fall. There's already enough in the family doing that.
