I have posted this a few times before - My lips are not really dry or chapped - its just when I close my mouth and open it they are like sticky and gluey - I am wandering if this could be related to some sort of ENT issue - post nasal drip making the saliva do this - anyone else have this or found a 'cure'

Tim:

Are you taking Pilocarpine or Salagen?

I have some salagen - should I use it ?

Sjenny

Tim:

You could try it - it only works for an 90 minutes at a time but it might generate enough saliva and thin the existing saliva enough that your lips don't feel as sticky.

Also, I am on a trial of low dose alpha-interferon tablets and my dry mouth has been significantly alleviated.

Does anyone have any news on treatment with alpha interferon lozenges? PubMed sports several studies claiming the lozenges are effective against Sjogren's dryness.

Is Sjenny (Sue) still active on this forum? She was a guest a decade ago and was participant in a trial.

I know, it came up in a search for alpha interferon. Was hoping hoping more members have experience with this medication by now?

And if not, why isn't it prescribed for Sjogren's? The studies on PubMed are quite positive...
