Not sure if any of you caught it tonight, but the TV show "House" just had a new episode where this gal had Sjogrens. It was really good. It showed how serious it can be. I know she had some seizures and some lung issues...they didnt mention the dryness until the very end so I couldnt figure it out...anyways, just an FYI

Methylprednisolone is an intermediate duration corticosteroid like prednisone, with a slightly higher relative strength...4 mg of methylprednisone (Medrol) equals 5 mg Prednisone.

interested episode - cannot imagine that the girl would not have complained of dry eyes if she could not produce tears - my eyes are dry - but I can cry and make tears - I have not been diagnosed yet - should know in a few days - but I was given methylpredisone by my ENT last visit - 6 day supply - did not do anything for me - but I am not sure what 6 day pack will do anyway

I watched it too but wouldnt have ever caugt it from the symptoms that lead up to the dx. Was kinda weird but did like the fact that they showed that it could be a serious condition. She had developed cysts in her lungs as a complication , fatigue was a biggie but she had a seizure( but I think that was due to some drugs she had taken)  and some neurological issues..neuropathy. But they didnt talk about the lack of tears or dry mouth until the very end. But I love House I watch it all the time and he only takes the really tough cases. She had been trying to get him to take her case for a while b/c all the other docs had said there was nothing wrong with her. Havent we all been there!

Oh man. I wish I'd caught this episode. Where can I find it online? What's the name of this episode?

I didn't watch it--and usually don't.  Make that never.  Will the folks who do watch the show try and alert us next time for a rerun.  I'm thrilled though that so many saw the show.  I'm thrilled that the disease had a name.  Lucy :)

I'm pretty much a House junkie, so I just finished watching tonight's episode. I thought it was really really good. I think it's funny she had lung cysts, when so many doctors think that sjogrens has no lung symptoms.

I caught the final scene when they discussed the Sjogren's.  I enjoy the show and thought they already did a show with sjogren's.  I'm on regular prednisone right now.  I just started to cut back on my daily dose because my itching is gone.

As I watched the episode, I almost immediately thought she had sarcoidosis...that would have explained every one of her symptoms including the seizures, fatigue, lung cysts, lack of tears and aplastic anemia. How they made the leap to SjS without labs to tell the difference, I'll never know!

They've used both SjS and sarc as differentials in the past, but then both diseases can be so vague, they can be a differential for just about any systemic disease you can think of.
