We went to Houston for our Manditory Evac.  We had a flat on the boat trailer on the way there thank God we had a spare.  Russ had to change it on a very busy freeway and i was in fear for his life with the Big Trucks zooming by.  Russ's 84 year old Mom lives there and it proved to be where we were suppose to be. The Storm was unbelievable...if you watch disaster movies imagine being in one? Her home is a disaster. With limbs from huge trees through the roof...

I am so Humbled...I know how much I love all of you, but never in a million years would have ever guessed I was so loved back. We have no family members to turn to. The Heat has proven to be my real enemy and fatigue. I have lost the use of my legs which I hope I regain. The V.A. neurology was kind when I contacted them...They said at this time I should wait and stay cool. I am to see them now on Oct. 8. More gas to Houston? I was so surprised by so many making deposits in our Pay pal account...It will help for bills since we spent the money on gas and FEMA will not re embuse you...for that....The People in Katrina abused the system and now it is much harder to get help...There are no money cards, they help with home repairs after the insurance.  So Thank you so much!!!!

The storm surge came within inches of our home...the stink is unbearable...Russ has minor repairs to do. He just got back from another trip to Houston, for his meds and for the PC. Mine is not working so the laptop is my lifeline.

I was a wash in tears the other evening after a hour of work with Garry; Heathers; hon. He was so patient. They would not take no for an answer. How do thank those you have never met who jump in to help? I was the helper...

Guess what Russ just walked in with the mail!!!!We have mail service YEA!!!!

Russ has his shoulder surgery next month and he will be out of service to the handicapped lady of the house...what will I do?

My Garden all of them are no MORE!!! just slimy mud....

Like I said thank you all so much!!! I will probably copy this message to my journal as repeating it is exhausting....

Hi Jangy  :)

I'm glad you survived Ike but am sorry so much stuff is damaged. It will be a long haul to any kind of normality. I'm sure help will be on hand though. Terrible things often bring out the best in people.

Take care - Scottie  :)

Please take care of yourself and Russ, Jangy. Don't try to get too much done too soon - as they say in Russia, Work is not a bear, it won't run off in the forest. I'm so sorry you have such a great deal to clean up.

The garden will come back gradually on its own, just give it some time.

Meantime, we are thinking of you and praying for you that you get the help you need and the clean-up goes smoothly. You are very special.

Hi Jangy,

FEMA still has problems. Our family dealt with their mess 21 years ago and they still are a mess. If you tell FEMA that you got any support they will deny you help. That is what happened to those here in Washington State when they were flooded out last year. If someone gave them funiture they were not able to get help then.

I am glad you and your family made it out there alive. The clean up does take some time. I hope you will be able to get that done quickly.

Hi Jangy,

I'm sorry for all that you and your family have been through...but I'm so glad that everyone is ok! The house, clean up, and garden will all take time, but it will come back to normal eventually.....just don't over do it and hurt yourself.

Thinking of you and sending lots of hugs........please know that we are here for you!

Jangy I know your pain!  We are still trying to get back to normal from Gustav.  We are dealing with adjusters and trying to line up repair people (which once on their list may still take weeks and weeks to get the work done.)  We were again without electricity for four hours today probably so they could do some major repairs.  There were 250 grids damaged or destroyed that needed repair before any thought could be given to providing power to substations or homes.  I am sure it is that way in Texas now.  My prayers are with you.  Just try to rest and stay as cool as possible.  My neuropathy is still flaring from the adventure and will probably take a while to settle down with all the up roar still going on.  Hopefully you can look at the good - that your family is safe and sound.  The repairs will come in good time.

The long lines for gas, tarps and supplies are what we went through. Sadly some people in the lower parts of the state are still dealing with it and have had a double whammie of getting hit by both storms.  Cameron Parish is again pretty destroyed.  They were just beginning to come back from Katrina.  A friend of mine's daughter lives near Beaumont in one of the areas that is near the coast.  I still have not been able to reach her to find out if all is ok.

I will keep you and yours in my prayers.  Texas and Louisiana people are strong and resilient.  We will get through this with a little co-operation from Mother Nature.  Take care!

Oh Jangy,
As if you aren't going through enough right now, mother nature has to throw you another little challenge. I am so glad to hear that you and Russ are safe and that you wee able to return to your home. Even if it is looking a bit ordinary right now. Just remember the ugly duckling always turns into a beautiful swan. It will take time to do this. If you do too much too soon you will get more sick and it will take twice as long to get there.
Try and keep cool nd rest where you can honey. Listen to your body.
I will keep my fingers crossed that mother nature holds out for you and that you & russ can get yourselves back on your feet. Literally & Figuratively (sp).

Take care

Pud

Hi Jangy

So sorry to hear about your latest trauma - as someone living in the UK I can only imagine the absolute terror of experiencing such an event.  I am so glad you are both OK and send all my good wishes to hopefully help you with the clean up operation.
