Click here: A case of secondary Sjogren's syndrome with a swollen thigh -- Deodhar et al. 56 (3): 162 -- Annals of the Rheumat .

A 73 year old English woman with seropositive, nodular, severe destructive rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and secondary Sjögren's syndrome was seen with a 10 day history of pain and five day history of swelling in the left thigh.

Hi Twilite  :)

I'm concerned to hear the swelling is still there. In a previous post did you mention something about your thyroid? Oedema/edema (swelling caused by fluid) can be very common in thyroid malfunction.

Are you running a fever? If the swelling was caused by an infection I would think you'd be feeling very ill indeed. Fever - vomitting - totally yuk. So saying - I'm not a doctor - I'm not medical - so only a doc can assess the situation. I know my daughter got a poisoned toe once. She ended up with swollen glands in her groin becaue of it but it was also like she had flu plus vomitting.

I hope your GP is helpful. Keep us posted.

Take care - Scottie  :)

Hi Twilite. I don't have access to read this article but I think it's a good idea to bring it to your doctors. OTOH, I just want you to know that the reason this article was probably published was because it was a very rare occurrence making it an interesting case and probably doesn't apply to you......but you never know with this crazy disease process.

When you have swelling as you mention it is time to see your doctor. Whenever there is swelling like that a medical cause is lurking. Take the article to the doctor but be prepared for him to want to explore many other possibilities. Irish ;D
