Hi Guys

I posted this on the wrong thread a few days ago.

Hi all

I told you about my youngest son having fibromyalgia and Raynauds previously, well he has recently had a couple of spells of passing dark blood. He has also lost about 30 lbs in about three months. He had blood tests last week  to test for diabetes and thyroid and also had   an internal examination, that looked 'ok'. Understandably, he is pretty worried, particularly as one of his colleagues, aged 24, died of bowel cancer last week. Michael is 25 and has a toddler of almost two and a baby due in August.  If anyone has any prayers to spare, he sure could do with some. His blood results are due sometime this week.

Thanks Lynnmarie and Janna for your kind thoughts and prayers. MIchael is hoping for some news tomorrow, so I will update you when I can.

Katy, I will pray for your son.  I am a strong believer in the power of prayer.  God's word is replete urging us to turn to Him, for He is our Rock, our Shelter, our Healer.
And that is what I am claiming!
I will pray His healing touch for your Michael.

Hi Kathyx, your poor son and family - he shouldn't be having to deal with stuff like this at his age. I'm sending healing vibes and hopes that whatever is causing this is benign and treatable.

Hi Kathy

I'll also keep your son in my thoughts. By internal examination do you mean a colonoscopy - or is that still to come? I hope you and he get some answers soon. Knowing what you're dealing with is so much better than the unknown.

Take care - Scottie

He is on the top of my prayer list and too young to have to endure all of this.

Kathy,

I'm praying for him too, and you as well.  It is so hard as a mother to see your child sick.  I pray for competent doctors and a benign, treatable condition.  We are here for you.

I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers. This is too young to be ill. I would assume they have checked him for cancer, ulcerative colitis and crohns disease. Please let us know how things turn out. Irish ;D

We will all keep you both in our thoughts and prayers. Please let us know how he is doing and what the tests show.

I'm adding him to my prayer box.  Have they done an upper scope too?  I  had an ulcer that was where the stomach hooks on to the intestinal tract.  It couldn't be seen with the colonoscopy.

Sure hope they find the answer soon.

Prayers coming for Michael.  Please do let us know how he does.

Hi Everyone

Thank you for your prayers.  I spoke to Michael earlier. It seems he needs to have the blood tests redone next Tuesday. Apparently there was something amiss with one - he doesn't have any more information about which one, or indeed what was being tested, other than diabetes and thyroid. He has not had any other investigations done as yet, although I suspect he will be offered a colonsocopy at some point.

It's frustrating, but I think Michael does not ask too many questions - on the one hand he is concerned about the weight loss, and the fact that a colleague died recently from bowel  cancer, on the other, he does not have he mental stamina to cope with any more diagnosis. He also needs to get back to a rheumatologist, as he's not seen one for 4 years, and could do with being on different medication, but our NHS system does not allow you to demand to see particular specialists.  I'm determined that if he does not get his results and referral within the next few weeks to badger him and, if need be, gatecrash his appointment.

Isn't it difficult when your children are grown up and make their own decisions? I promise to let you know as soon as I know more.

Hi Kathy - I hear you! I get so frustrated with both my younger kids and medical appointments. I'm sure they don't ask what they ought to - or tell the docs what they ought to either. I believe they both refuse point blank to mention AI issues in the family which I think is so short sighted of them and there's nothing I can do about it!!!!!!!

My son needed a colonoscopy when he was 20 I think because of bleeding. It wasn't dark blood though. They decided he neede stretching and had a tight a*** but it was an unpleasant time all round. The letter he was meant to give to his GP is still in the house. (3 years ago!)

My youngest daughter has been doing a lot of very active sleep walking and she won't go to a doc about it and I can't drag her!

I guess all you can do is to be there for him. A worrying time for you both. I hope you get some answers soon.

Take care - Scottie  :)

Kathy,

I just read this post on Michael.  I hate that you and him have to go through this.  I also have those grown kids that just don't seem to know what to ask or find out at doc. appts., but then sometimes neither do I.

My prayers will definitely be coming Michaels way.  Continue to keep us posted.  And be sure to take care of yourself,  sometimes we as mothers forget to do that.

God Bless Michael and you both,

Sue
