Hi everyone, I finally got all my teeth pulled and am so happy I did it!  They were diseased and very ugly and gave me bad breath.  Now I have my dentures and am wearing them well, can eat just about anything and am so much happier.  I specifically want to thank Meirish for all the information she gave and encouragement.  I am wondering if any of you have a favorite denture cleaner, one that has proven to keep your teeth white.  I'm worried about them turning yellow, as it seems so many of the people I know with dentures now have yellow dentures. This is the first time in my life that I've had white teeth and I want them to last. I know there's more to life than white teeth, but I want to try to keep them white.  Thanks for any information!!

Not sure why there haven't been responses to this, other than the theory that your denturist should give you information on this.

I've had partial dentures for many years, progressing to full about 10 years ago, which I've never regretted. My denturist offered a few suggestions of professional cleaning agents, but told me plain old baking soda once in a while works wonders, both as a gently abrasive cleaner and a whitener. He was also quick to remind me that he took care to "colour match" my new teeth to my complexion, and that truly bright white teeth tend to look unnatural.

I use GUM bioXtra dry mouth mild toothpaste twice a day for the moisturising effect, and once a week or so, I mix a paste of baking soda and a few drops of water and use that for deep clean and any whitening effect it may have.

Thanks for the reply Linda196!  I will keep your suggestion for future use.  I forgot about baking soda!

I just had a tooth replaced in my top denture which is 10 years old. I drink some coffee everyday plus occasional Colas. The dentist office couldn't believe how clean my teeth were. I told the I just buy the Walmart tablets and soak every night. I also us the Walmart brand denture paste in the tubes to hold my dentures in. I do this every day. I will take them out and rinse if I r un out of denture paste holding them in and then put on more paste.

I am a retired nurse and worked with people and their dentures for years. My feeling is that a lot of people don't clean their teeth on a daily basis or take very good care of them thus they get so discolored. I also tend to change the flavor of the denture tabs frequently as possibly that may make a difference.

I also eat a lot of chocolate which can stain teeth but soaking daily works. The gals at the office said that we could use hydrogen peroxide or plain old bleach diluted with water to soak our teeth but I don't remember the diluation. You might want to google a denture site at a university or ask a gal who works in a dental office cleaning teeth. Or try asking your
dentist. I think the daily cleaning, etc. is the secrete and switch brands or flavors of the soaking tablets. Also, I think tea stains teeth much worse than coffee. Good luck meirish

Thanks Meirish, I think that you're right.  They need to be cleaned daily.  I've been soaking them each night in efferdent and I brush them also.  Since I've never had white teeth, I want to keep them white.
