I recently left a job and started a new company. I knew the benefits were not as good but I had the option of going under my husbands medical. I am age 41 with a 3 yr old daughter. Its year 16 being diagnosed with sjogrens. Since that time my body has slowly crumbled. I lost most of my hearing likely due to autoimmune, developed hashimotos, and recently diagnosed with mild to moderate valve reg in two valves. However, cardiologist just wanted to follow. Anyways back to my actual question. So new job apparently I have to fill out an evidence of insurability for life insurance. I never had to do this through work insurance and now nervous out of my mind. How hard is it to qualify with sjogrens and complications? None of my doctors think I am in any imminent danger but I'm defintely not as healthy as a good majority my age. Although I do know there are those who have it much worse than I. I just want to make sure should something happen my husband and child have some money coming to them.

This is always such a sticky subject. Do you know if the insurance questions are specific. Your doctor saying that you aren't imminent danger so that is good. I have autoimmune hearing loss total in one ear and 1/2 in the other, hashimotos, sjogrens, myasthenia gravis and bullies pemphigoid another autoimmune disease. I don't think I am in danger of dying soon but we never know. These are chronic diseases that linger and don't cause death much of the time.

Actually, I have diabetes also and this is more apt to kill me than the above issues as I have developed chronic kidney disease. I guess I would apply for the insurance and see how it goes. Don't talk yourself into something that isn't going to happen. You are up and around with your heart issue and your cardiologist isn't concerned so that sounds very positive. We can't guarantee that we will live forever when we apply for life insurance. I am assuming that you and your employer will pay for the insurance. If you alone pay for it there should be no issue. I am not an expert by any means but when you think about it the worst thing that can happen is that you will be turned down. Ask others that you trust who don't work at your company what they think. Good luck. meirish
