Dentures, are they possible with dry mouth?

Hello Everyone:  I'm really really wanting to get dentures.  I want to remove all of my ugly, diseased teeth and use dentures.  I went to Affordable Dentures yesterday and got an estimate, talked to the Doctor and got excited about the possibility.  The Doctor knows I have Sjogrens and told me yes it's possible to have dentures.  She recommends a snap on bottom denture and a regular denture on top.  I hope some of you will chime in with your opinions.  When a denture is in your mouth, how does moisture get between it and your pallet?  My mouth might be getting dryer and dryer and I'm just concerned about keeping the flesh of my mouth that they cover, moist.  Is it really possible to get dentures when you have dry mouth?  Thanks so much in advance!

I think I would just have dentures that fit in the old fashioned way. I have a dry mouth and have had dentures since 2004. I use the Walmart Equate paste ion a tube and it works great. Don't need a whole lot otherwise they stick way too tight. The past helps to keep the gums moist surprisingly.

I have not had trouble due to dryness. Actually, I think the paste on the dentures plus the dentures themselves help keep the gums from drying out. I don't have any regrets about having the dentures as I went through so much infection and misery plus expense for many years prior.

I wear mine day and night and soak them a couple of times a day in the tablets with water. I would avoid having any metal insertions into bone/gums as the possibility for bone infection exists. The less "stuff" we have done the less chance of problems. It is great to have good looking teeth (dentures) and no cavities or abscesses and pain free. meirish

Also, I can eat almost everything. I eat corn on the cob with no problems but caramel candy is a problem. Have to let it soak and dissolve as it sticks to the dentures. meirish

Thanks so much for the reply meirish!  I'm definately getting dentures, but now with your expert opinion I need to decide between a snap on for the bottom or just regular for the bottom.  She said with my mouth I'd have trouble keeping it in place.  I'm going to get another opinion soon.  Infections do scare me.
