I am not getting any boosters.  Too much inflammation from two Pfizers.  My Sjogren's is worse after being stable for years, my old back problems have ramped up worse than ever and they were stable.  I have heart damage and my cardiologist says no more shots.

Even if I didn't have these issues I probably wouldn't because I don't see the point when cases are so low and the virus is mutating down.  I've also had Omicron and I'm not sorry.  I figure natural immunity is always better.

Third, we don't know yet what the long-term effects are of these shots.  Shortcuts were taken, new technology...it leaves me very uncomfortable.

Absolutely.

I hope you start to feel better soon and can get back on track.

Just got my second booster (Pfizer) and I am doing fine.  However, the nurse was not very gentle on my arm, so the injection site is a bit painful to the touch and warm.  No lump or redness.  I needed to do it because I am having C2 through C7 decompressed and fused on April 25.

You are slowly ticking off the chores to do prior to surgery. I know that you are very uneasy about this surgery and that is ok. Know that it is probably more wise to be fearful prior to surgery than to take the attitude that it is no big deal and nothing to worry about. I always worry prior to surgery and am so relieved when I wake up and it is over.

Try not to get overly concerned cause the stress is hard on our autoimmune issues. I have a lady living down the hall from me in independent living. She has had most of her neck immobilized and also a lot of her back. I can't remember the number of titanium plates she has in her spine but it an enormous amount. She uses a cane when she walks and she also does some of the cares for her husband who is quite debilitated and in a wheel chair. The nursing assistants do the harder cares as she isn't able to do these.

She is 84 and a former nurse and is quite amazing in her attitude and ability to keep on keeping on. The important thing to keep in mind is that we are always able to do better than we think we will do. Our attitude and perseverance is so important. I know you will come out on the other side of this surgery much better than you believe. Hang in there and keep us informed when you are up to sitting up and working on the computer again.  Prayers and thoughts are with you. meirish

One of the doctors who has been on TV a lot discussing pandemic and vaccines was on today again. I can never remember his name. He has been researching all the info out about the 4th booster and he said that it does not sound very promising. Has not worked to well in some studies and he also said that we cannot be getting a booster every 4-5 months like this as it will raise havoc with our immune system. Just too much. I guess I feel the same way. I am waiting for the vaccination that will be less dangerous to our body and work better than all the vaccines that are out right now.

They all seem to loose effectiveness after around 6 months including the 4th booster that is out or coming out. meirish

We are getting the second booster on April 27, in our Senior Living Community.

We are tested weekly for Covid-19, by the way.

I get a flu shot every year, which is formulated to cover the expected strains of flu for each year.

I think the Covid vaccination will probably be annual, and in the same way: formulated for whatever is seen to be coming.

I imagine most of you had all of the childhood vaccinations.  Most school systems require them of entering students.

Polio was eradicated in this country due to the polio vaccine.    Children do not die from complications of measles and chickenpox.  I am protected from tetanus.  I am currently taking an antibiotic for a UTI.

\Because I am asymptomatic with UTIs I have twice become septic, requiring 3-4 day hospitalization for IV antibiotics.  I would have died within days if I had not been treated.   Now I test my urine weekly with the same test strips they use in the doctors' offices....to be sure I catch a UTI before the bacteria gets to my blood stream.

Life is risky, but fear of medical treatments and medications is riskier, IMHO.

I thank the universe that I got my second booster two weeks ago.  I was ready to have massive major surgery on my neck this coming Monday and it was postponed due to my COVID test showing positive.  I don't feel any symptoms.  I feel fine.  The neurosurgeon says it could be a false positive, but he does not want to take any chances because of Sjogren's and the six month recovery period with my surgery.

I have been off of anti-inflammatories (Naproxen) for 10 days now and after I find out when my new surgery date is, I might go back on it for a little while.  After the surgery, I will not be able to take if for a year.

I have known folks who have gotten sick after the booster.
Both with pre existing conditions.
I suppose reaction to the vaccines is unlikely.
BUT I also suppose folks with autoimmune illness...slightly higher.

1. Friend with lupus...had a flare up of heart issues after second Pfizer vax. Had o get on medication. After booster, ended up in the hospital. Was diagnosed with heart failure and needed surgery. Doing better now, but frail. She is in her early 50s.
2. Friend with ITP (low platelets). After second vax had bad drop in platelets. Took Rituxan IV treatment. Did ok. After booster, had another bad drop in platelets. Hospitalized. Took Rituxan iv tx. It didn't work. Tried some other thing/meds.  Nothing worked. She bled to death. She was in her early 40s.

Absolutely recognize this is NOT the case for everyone. But strongly suspect adverse effects are slow to be discussed. Personally believe we should be fully aware of potential problems as well as benefits.

I have a sister-in-law hospitalised at present with Covid. It is damaging her liver.

Did your sister in law get Remdemisver as part of her tx? No doubt Covid might damage liver, but so does this medication. Something not comfortably discussed.

Hi

I think the small hospital  she is in in the far north of Scotland is very unlikely to have Remdemisver in stock.

She's home now but now my brother in law has it. He keeps throwing up.

Fun disease.
Take care - scottie  :)
