Hello everyone, I hope you are all getting along well with this nuisance we share.
I am new, but not new to this misery.
My health history is ridiculous verging on unbelievable.
I post today as I am having a terrible time with GI stuff.
I can?t eat! It makes me so ill.....but if I don?t eat....it makes me so ill 😟 crazy!
I have lost allot of weight and after an ultrasound was relived that my pancreas, aorta, are okay, my gall bladder has ?thickening? which my nurse practitioner doesn?t really understand, but no stones.
And my liver has mild to moderate fatty tissue but not enlarged.
So then what is going on?🤔
I have pain in my upper abdominal area to the right of Center and kind of under my right rib and the pain goes right on through my back. So it?s hard to lay down.
Bloats and blelchy tummy if I eat and slow motility.
So you can imagine my confusion, don?t know if I sbhould eat or not....but know I can?t just not eat...
It?s a pickle. Keeps me awake laying down, keeps me hungry and a knawing feeling all the time in my stomach.
It?s winter here and very dry, and the heating is really dry too. My sinuses are so dry they bleed.
So I am wondering does that mean my GI tract is that dry too? Would that have anything to do with it? No idea but tired of the nausea, burning, and horrible fatigue.
Thanks for listening.

Welcome to the forum. Many years ago I was at an alternative pain clinic. They brought in a Russian fellow with similar issues. The first few days they started him on fresh cabbage juice. About 3 days in they started to add fresh carrot Juice. At our 6 months reunion he was fine and eating normal foods. The pain clinic (in Minneapolis supported by Fairview) had their own raw vegetable juicer.

Some others may have more traditional information to help and my memory on dates and mixes of the Juices may be of but you can find more information in books on raw vegetable juice therapy.

Sandi,

Sorry to hear you are in such pain.  I totally understand your frustration.  I had a similar experience and it ended up being costocondritis. It is inflammation of the cartilage between your ribs.  The pain can be excruciating.  Google 'costocondritis' and read about it and see if your symptoms fit the description.  Rest, heat and strong anti inflammatories generally help.

Hope you get answers and feel better.

Sandi:  I agree with Liz: costochondritis.  Years after I was dxed w' sjogren's I told my rheumatologist about several "illnesses" which I had suffered over a couple of decades---but NOT dxed with costo.  I asked if a dx of pleurisy, for example, could have been costo.  She told me yes...as the pain is one which levels you and you can't get a breath without more pain.  I gave her 4 different examples.  She agreed I had been having costo attacks.  I would have one about every two years.  The interesting part is you can have that "wrap around" pain and I would think I could exercise it out.  You can't.  Heat and Tylenol is what i'd take.

It took at least 2 decades of these attacks to get a correct dx.  It still took another year or two before I ended up in the ER.  In the last 3 1/2 years I've been to an ER 3 times.  NOW...I figured out what exacerbates MINE, so I've done well for over a year!

You are right:  You can't eat.  I can barely breathe.  By now you've looked it up and had an aha moment.  Ask a dr. next time you have an appt if you could have costo.  I carry a MASSIVE dose of prednisone for attacks.  When the prednisone won't decrease the inflammation fast enough for your pain level, that's when an ER visit is called for.  They cannot treat you for it...they can't give you the prednisone.  THEY give you a pain shot...which relieves you so you start taking the prednisone.   You will figure out your triggers...and the frequency will subside.

Good luck.

If Liz and I are wrong, good luck in figuring it out.  Whatever it is, I know you are miserable....and curious to have an answer.

Sounds like either gallbladder or possible gastroparesis. My daughter had no gallstones but her gallbladder was barely functioning.  The test to diagnose function is Hida scan.  Gastric emptying test will diagnose gastroparesis.

Dearest Angels,

Reading through the replies to Sandi, I thought "Wow, my Angels know so very much!"

I didn't have a clue what you could be experiencing, Sandi.  Only hoping you get some relief.

But now you have several 'leads' to follow up on, and you know, MOST IMPORTANT, that you are not alone and that it isn't 'all in your head'.

This is the very very best forum on the internet, or anywhere.
