I've agreed with the opthalmologist to trial plugs next Feb.
Now I need to decide whether or not to trial one eye first.
My bottom of my eyes are the driest so maybe a bottom eye plug to begin with.

Anyone using plugs have a suggestion?

Lotus1

Liz D.

Definitely try plugs on both eyes!  They were a lifesaver for me and helped tremendously.  I even opted eventually to have my puncta cauterized shut so that I wouldn't have to keep replacing plugs.

Thanks Liz

Do you work in air con with a computer & fluro lights?

I won't be working in the office after Feb 8th so plugs may benefit me.

I'll trial both eyes & see how it goes.

No i do not work in air conditioning with fluorescent lights.  I'm generally home most of the time.

Glad you will try them in both eyes.  I actually have all 4 shut, upper and lower ducts, and my eyes have been great.  Start with the 2 and see how it goes.

That's encouraging for me Liz D.
I'll start with 2 lower plugs.

What eye drops do you use?
I find Refresh the best so far.
Don't seem to get on with oily or drops containing sodium.

Your plugs don't fall out?
Will you have your eyes cauterized if the plugs are working well?

Sorry about all the questions!

That's my plan, Jazzlover.

Interesting & so glad you've recovered from lymes disease.
Dr's slow to accept it's a disease here in Auzzie Land.

Lotus,

I use Refresh too!  I don't like the oily ones either.

I do have mine cauterized because the plugs did keep falling out.

Thanks for answering my questions Liz D.

Glad you use refresh also.

Dr said if the plugs helps can cauterize, scary to me.

While waiting for the plugs I'm going to try the below recipe which helped someone:

Now to how I cured myself. I beleive in the healing properties of plants and hit the research books to which plant oils are safe for use around the eyes. What I came up with is Frankincense and Lemon oil. Here is my recipe:

*one teaspoon coconut oil
*10 drops frankincense oil - properties as an antiseptic, disinfectant, astringent.
*10 drops lemon oil - properties are anti-infection, astringent, antiseptic, disinfectant.

Both oils are used in womens beauty creams so dont be scared of using them. (NEVER put essential oils in eyes!)

Mix until uniformed in a small glass or ceramic dipping bowl.

Using your clean finger apply mixture around your eye (but not in it) cover top and lower skin of your eyelids. Then around the eye socket, over nose bridge and down your nose and over your eye brows. Do this at nite before bed for 14 days. Cured and I must say my eyesight is much sharper today. Cant explain that one.

I agree with others' recommendations to get both bottoms done at the same time because one might benefit more than the other. If you only get one done, you might miss out on that. That being said, I did not feel much improvement after getting both bottoms done, and actually may have felt even worse. I got bottoms done on a Friday and after reporting my discomfort to my doctor on Monday, she had me return on Tuesday for installation of top plugs in addition to the bottom plugs. She said the top puncta suction and may be been overcompensating for the bottom that were no longer draining.

Wow, having all four plugged since early February of this year has made a world of difference!! Both of my eyes are more comfortable (though the left is still not as great as the right, like it wasn't before, but still better), I use much less eye drops and no longer need eye gel at night. I haven't even had to go back to the eye doctor since having the tops installed. Previously, I was visiting each month or every other month to get a prescription for a tiny bottle of steroid drops. So far this year, I haven't even finished one bottle of steroid drops. So, increased comfort plus saving time and money. Yay!

The company I work for has been very busy and recently asked if I would increase my hours and come to the office rather than work from home all the time. I am super pleased to actually be able to consider doing that. Before the plugs, it would not have been able to.

All of my plugs have stayed in without any problems so I haven't cauterized.

I hope you get good results from getting both bottoms plugged, Lotus! If not, consider adding top plugs.

Ok, I'll get both bottoms of eyes done.

I wash my hands well then wipe out grit with wet fingers before putting in eye drops.
Wondering if the plugs will fall out doing this???

SSDD I hope your eyes cope with working at the office now you're comfy with the plugs.
