Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has been subjected to an ERCP and EUS test.  This is the test when they go in and look at your bile ducts, pancreas and liver.  I here this test can cause the very problems they are looking for and although it is an outpatient test you can end up in the hospital.  I am greatly concerned.

This test was suppose to be given to me almost a year ago and finally the insurance will pay for it.  I am not in that horrible pain I was in last May.  I have so many other pains in my joints and body and I don't want to aggravate my body any more than is needed.  I just came off of a flare and trying to enjoy my moment of only moderate to severe pain.

Thanks,

Had both about 5-6 years ago when I had a bout of autoimmune pancreatitis.  I was scared to death going into the testing because of all I was reading about how serious the tests can be. I really thought I might die.  Well....let me tell you....I survived it..it went very smoothly, didnt feel any different than any other testing I have had.  I did have to go to hospital out of the area to have it done. That gave me some peace knowing I was in good hands and had a doctor who has done many of these procedures.  In my situation the pain was mild to moderate, but my pancreatic enzymes had been elevated for a long time. Good luck with everything.

Thank you for your response.  I think I will meet with my oncologist first and then have the test so he can facilitate everything.
