Amitriptyline: Anyone else take it?

I began taking Amitriptyline last night in place of the Cymbalta.  I hope it is as effective against the pain of my osteoarthritis.  Time will tell.  My current dose is very low, 25 mg, as I built up to find the right dose, if there is one.

Any comments from fellow users?

I gave this a lot to patients when I was nursing plus my hubby was on it for years for nerve pain. It works well and most people will get along on the 25 mgm. I am assuming you are taking it to help with nerve pain and sleep.

Some people think it causes more mouth dryness. Take it slow as it builds up in the blood and it may take some days to be effective. If you increase the dosage too soon you could get the "blind staggers" as I call the imbalance caused by high blood levels of a drug. Good luck. Irish

I was prescribed this for bak pain but I couldn't tolerate 25mg - it just made me too dry. However - I'm happy to say that 10mg at night, is keeping back pain at bay.

my daughter takes it for her interstitial cystitis...helps with the pain.
