Multiple part comment/question.
We recently moved to another area of the state. It is hotter and drier here. Immediately, my dry mouth worsened. We had s friend over from our orig. area and interestingly one day he exclaimed "my mouth is so dry lately." Hmmm. There is not a huge difference in the atmosphere, but a clear one.

Question: Might a slight change in humidity in the atmosphere cause more dry mouth?

I'm on prednisone for low platelets. Prednisone and the bad stress of moving don't mix. The hurricane didn't help. I've hired a nutritionist.

I'm to drink lots of water and keep my sodium daily intake to 1500 mg or less.  Hmmm. I struggle to do this. BUT I think when I do, I'm noticing  a slight improvement in my dry mouth. I don't wake up parched. A little dry, but not disturbingly so.

Question (s):Has anyone tried this or something like it before? (Esp the low sodium diet?)

I wonder what other little things might be if help. Even small improvements are improvements in my book!
SLE, Sj.  Syndrome, IC, Atypical Trigeminal Neuralgia, ITP (low platelets)... Various meds and lots of vitamins. Trying to eat healthy; seems to help a little.

Any change in humidity up or down makes a difference in how our dryness is. When we are in a lower humidity climate we need to use a humidifier in the house much of the time. When we use air conditioning or furnace the moisture in air is going to go down also.

Also, make sure to eat enough sodium when you drink a lot of water as the sodium and potassium will get washed out so to speak and you will have lower levels of sodium and potassium and that can cause some health issues. Our bodies need enough sodium and potassium in our diet in relation to the amount of water we drink. Talking with the doctor is a good way to get this info. Good luck. Irish
