Dearest Sjoggie friends,

I have been doing a lot of reading and not much writing here because I haven't had much to say.  This winter has been good to me as far as my Sjogrens has been concerned, that is, until this past Thursday!

You may remember that my husband is havinging daily radiation and weekly chemo for some time now.  Only two weeks left!!!👏👏☺️   I've been trying to stay so well so that I won't pass anything on to him.  Usually, I'm an upper respiratory, sinus infection, bronchitis kind of magnate most winters.  I think  I just pick it up more easily with our Sjogrens!😡

Well I have been so careful and have prayed so hard that I haven't been sick since my husband had his surgery and I needed to take care of him.  I was starting to think I was becoming immune but not to be so.

His white count has been steadily dropping and I've tried to keep him away from sick grandkids and crowds.  Well, you can't keep him locked up forever🤔  So he felt good and we went to a big school raffle/dance/ fundraiser.  He did fine but I have picked up the worst flu!

At least I think it is the flu.  I feel achy all over with high fever that I've been treating with ibuprophen and alternating Tylenol.  I have no energy and a nasty hacking, nonproductive cough.    I'm so scared that he will get this from me and his white count is only two!  I am too weak to hardly care for myself right now , but up until now I've been taking GREAT care of him.  Chemo is bad brews and not for the faint hearted!

I'm supposed to work just five hrs tomorrow which is perfect for me but honestly?  I don't think I'll make it.  This is the Fourth day of shaking chills and fever.  It sucks.  I'm going to call my Dr on Monday but I feel it is probably viral.  I took a flu shot and a pneumonia shot!

I realize now how incredibly fortunate I have been this far!  Never start to take things for granted.  My hopes are that my husband can complete his chemo and daily radiation in the next two weeks without incident.

My best friend owns a beautiful condo in Bradenton Florida and has told me I can borrow it anytime.  We were planning on taking off the last week of April if everything is going well. I feel the need to walk on a beach and contemplate the meaning of life.

Please God let me get through this without getting him sick!

I can't imagine feeling so sick on top of being so worried about your husband.  I'm hoping that you have space in your home so that you can seclude yourself away from him.  A white blood cell count of two is pretty low for him.

I'll be praying for you both that you make it to the end of his treatments and get to walk on that beach!

Well, I called off work for today because I share an office with four other people in close quarters.

I don't want anyone exposed to this😞  Didn't babysit my grandchild last Friday because if it.  Usually I have to worry about what he is bringing me!  Lol

To answer your question, yes, I've been staying upstairs as much as I can and my hubby is downstairs.  Very lonely for me but he loves his Sports Channels!   So far he is doing fine.  He lost his hair from the chemo so he is a cute little baldie right now but that's okay.  It will grow back. 

(When I was feeling better, I threatened to put Viking tattoos on his head!😂😉).  I told him he would be very stylish and quite the ladies man!  I don't know why he didn't take me on it😂.

Well my fever is only low grade today but I feel weak with an awful cough.  So I'm just going to rest and drink lots of fluids. 

If hubby needs something I can't do - I'm lucky to have a daughter nearby who has offered to help.  I think we can make it though.

Hope you are on the mend today.
We forget when we are the caregiver how run down our bodies become and susceptible to picking up "cooties".
When at the Dr or Hospital for DH I consciously do not touch anything barehanded..lol. I will cover my hand with my blouse to open a door, push elevator button. Then pick up DH from Hospital and recently I literally slept for two days. Crash.

You are doing this and working.. be kind to yourself. Extra protein, fluids.
I would be at work and not even sharing pens..lol  (Actually, when I worked with students I refused to share writing implements.. really!!)

Love the 'Tattoo" idea.
I have put on lipstick and kissed the area where DH needed to be shaved for procedure..seriously we need to have some fun with this!
And I have drawn things on him with water based markers.. lol.
Staff remembers us.

I will think of the two enjoying the sound of the water... soon.

Hope this is a short-term bug like the one my spouse had a couple of months ago, it wiped him out for a while, but he's A OK now.
