outsourcing chores

Guys, I feel kind of bad even asking this . . . does anyone here outsource their chores and cleaning (ie, hire a housecleaner or personal assistant)?

I work part time from home, and my husband does well, so the money isn't really the issue as much as the guilt. But I am struggling so much with the fatigue and exhaustion, especially in the last three months. I am managing one big task or errand a day, and am not mustering much energy for other things, such a spending time with my friends or going dancing with my husband.

This is a hard one for all women I think. I need help but keep putting it off. I say, go for it. You are still able to work so for sure you should have some help. I haven't worked for so many years and feel like I will just do it a little at a time. Yeah, right. lol Irish

You should definitely outsource things you don't want to do, to save energy for things you want to do.Cleaners - that's an easy one. May take you a while to find some you like working with, but go for it.

Could your husband do the laundry?  That's one of my energy busters.

I just moved, and I started cleaning a front window. My partner looked at me and said - you can get someone to do that you know!  Right, I was forgetting to outsource!

Have a grocery delivery service deliver food!

I remember when I had to finally ask for help from other parents to get my kids to after school and weekend sports.

We have limits. They do change, one day able to do 'X', then not able. The roller-coaster physically and emotionally.

You are in a position to not use energy on taking care of 'stuff/things'.. and can use that energy for yourself and family.

I will absolutely do this when I can afford it! Right now I just use the Walmart grocery pickup service. It's a big help!

Yes, I outsource chores.

My cleaning service takes an hour to do what would take days, if not weeks.

And cuts down on conflicts.

I would love to outsource chores, but unfortunately I cannot afford it financially. I do everything on both the inside and the outside of the house, as I don't have my sons available anymore because they are grown and not within the immediate area.

Between working full time, the house and my elderly parents, I simply cannot do everything anymore. I have been hiring people for the past 2 years to do fixer upper and certain upgrades to my home that are within my budget, in anticipation of selling the house and buying a condo.

I should be able to hopefully sell this spring. A condo will come with a monthly fee, which will at least pay for grass cutting, leaf raking and snow removal. It will still be up to me to take care of the inside of the place, plus go to work every day.

I know that Sjogrens is a chronic progressive disease and that I won't be getting any better. I have been in a flare since last week and have been without Restasis for a month because my insurance company won't pay for it anymore. I looked in a mirror in a store with fluorescent lights today and my teeth are looking brown. I hate this disease!

I am happy for those of you who get help from your spouses and are able to afford to have somebody to come in to your home to help you. Take care,
