Hello. I will try to brief this issue. During the last year I have been suffering an excruciating pain in my chest/shoulder/stomach that shows up one time every two months. This pain lasts only several hours but it is unbearable. It started in my shoulders, then the collarbone, then the chest and finally the stomach. My rheumatologist suggested that perhaps it was something related with the stomach so he prescribed me omeprazole. I thought it was not going to work because the pain started in my shoulders so I thought it was not stomach related, but really you never know because there are lots of interactions between different organs. The issue is that four months has passed since my last pain, so it seems that something in my stomach was really involved and the omeprazole is helping me.

It is true that our stomach can cause a lot of issues. Many times people go to ER thinking that they could be having a heart attack and it turns out after a ton of heart testing, that they are having reflux.

It is scary cause stomach and back, shoulder pain can also be a sign of gallbladder issues. Glad you are having relief. Irish

Finally, my flare came back a couple of weeks ago, so I think that I only skipped one flare. On the other hand when I started to sense that this problem was coming (it was afternoon), I took another nexium 40 pill (I took nexium 40 in the mornings since several months ago). I had a flare (chest/shoulder/stomach) but it wasn't so bad as the previous ones before: I didn't need to stand up, so I could sit down and after some hours I even could lying on the bed. So in this sense I am quite happy.

The issue is that I was feeling so well the days before that I was thinking it was time to start some exercise (I know it is important for us but I usually feel so tired that it is quite difficult) and I hiked with my family a couple of days before the flare appeared. Perhaps the hike was the trigger, but I really don't know.

I think the stomach is quite involved, perhaps some nerves touch nerves from other organs?. I did a gastroscopy and they only find a hiatal hernia that I suspected I had but nothing more.

Next week I am going to visit my rheumatologist. I think he will tell me that I have to wait several months to find how this issue develops.

Have you ever noticed if it is related to what you eat. Just thinking of the gallbladder or possibily liver involvement that can occur with autoimmune disease. Irish
