Essential Tremors..

Hi Sjoggie-Mates,

Just wondering if any of you are dealing with essential tremors? I had all of the neurological tests a few years back & the doc said I had Essential Tremors. I am starting to get noticeably more head-shaking. This is something I have not researcheda great deal (yet). Does it happen as a result of the small nerve damage we have from Sjogren's or is it a separate non-related issue altogether?

I have essential tremors.  I was diagnosed with it before I knew I had Sjogrens.  Neuro could not figure out why.  I remember my mom had shaky handwriting when she was in her 60s.  I get really tight in my shoulders and arm muscles.  My husband thinks that is where it is coming from.  I have slight head shaking at this time.  I am thinking it might not be related to SJS.

My daughter has essential tremors since she was six. Her neuro muscular specialist said it's very common and she has it as well. My daughter showed symptoms and was diagnosed with behcet's 11 years later.

  I've had essential tremors for years. I notice that they tend to seem worse when I'm flaring, but have never received confirmation that the two are linked. I think they are though.

I was put on a beta blocker for tachycardia last year, and it has helped so much with the shaking. Mine is worst in my hands and there were days I was having trouble getting food to my mouth without throwing it. Before I take my meds in the morning, I still manage to toss coffee around at least a couple times a month. My husband has joked that he needs to make a bigger pot to account for my coffee throwing habit.😊

So glad (?)  to see your post.  I am also experiencing hand tremors,  hoping it's just essential tremors.
I have been pretty stressed out about it,  don't see the Neurologist  until the end of the month.

I too have essential tremor in my hands and legs.  Sometimes I can feel it beginning in my head and neck.  I asked my father's neurologist about it a few years ago and he said if your hand shakes at rest it could be Parkinson's, but if it shakes when you are using it, it is essential tremor.  At any rate, it is slowly getting worse.  I started it along with my fibromyalgia dx and then a few years later got the primary Sjogren's dx.  Some days it drives me crazy!

My younger son developed an essential tremor in his 20's.  He has it primarily in his left hand (he's left handed) and it's quite pronounced.  He's a doctor, but NOT a surgeon, thank goodness.

I have tremors, but they are part of my jerking and general weirdness, not constant. And have not been diagnosed yet, altho' epilepsy seems to be ruled out.  But I'm not so sure about that either.

It is very unpleasant, to say the least.

I think that gabapentin and other anti seizure drugs might help?  But I don't know.
