Post lip biopsy

I just had my lip punched, snipped, and stiched, and it hurts! Any recommendations/tips on nursing this sucker back to health tonight?

Mine didn't hurt. Maybe an icepack and some tylenol?

Pain killers, you shouldnt need them more than a day or two. If you do it might be worth checking back in with your doctor?

Mine didnt hurt for more than a few hours though. And luckily no continuing numbness. It was negative though so not much help.

Ice it on and off. Don't leave the ice on full time as it will decrease the circulation too much and slow healing. Tylenol should work well. Avoid Aleve or Ibuprofen as they can cause bleeding.

It will be sore for a few days with the first 24 hours being the worst. Actually, it is not the worst pain but just gets old cause you feel like your lip is going to bump everything. Irish

P.S. wrap the ice in cloth so the ice isn't right next to the skin. Also, if the lips swells up days down the road there can be infection. When you notice it swelling a warm rag is really good to moisten it and promote the drainage. Lips are really dirty and it is very common to get a certain degree of infection in them. If you notice swelling with redness and heat then it could be a more advanced infection and doc needs to be called. I am not trying to panic you. Just want you to know that lips do this.

Irish - no worries. I've dealt with plenty of wounds at this point - I understand the risks of infection, especially in the mouth. I just started using a little gly-oxide this morning to help things along, too. Pain is significantly reduced from yesterday.
