Need a new iron

I simply need a new iron and would like to purchase a really good one.  One that can get super hot if needed, one that steams if needed and turns off automatically for safety reasons.
Any ideas? Wish this was a more "fun" question! Lol

I have to tell you that replacing my appliances after many years is so traumatic. I had to get a new iron this winter and it was not easy. I looked all over and priced them and looked them over. I can't have a heavy iron due to my myasthenia and these newer irons are so big and clutzy.

I finally found the T-fal iron and bought the one that is 1500 watts at about 25 bucks. It took me a long time to get used to it and I finally think that I am going to be able to settle in with it. I am not crazy about the way the water tank is placed but that is about the only issue. It shuts off by itself, but I always unplug it anyway. I like the bottom of the iron as it has t-fal there and is very smooth and moves nicely on the clothes and doesn't snag or anything. Good luck in this search. Oh, there is an iron with 1700 watts for people that need their iron to be hotter. Irish

Love, love, love my Hamilton Beach Durathon. It was not at all expensive. It's digital, has many settings and they actually work. You can control the steam and it has a retractable cord.
