Anyone have any experience with methylprednisolone ? My doc prescribed it to me to take for a week. Does it do anything to stop flares or sicca symptoms?

Edit: not methotrexate

It is a touch stronger than just "prednisone" but in effect is the same drug. A short course shouldn't affect you with moon face (I have that now) or weight gain either. It is a powerful anti inflammatory and brings relief as well.

4 MG, he prescribed before I got my dry eyes as he thought my dry mouth was caused by inflammation and wanted to try a course.

Yep. It will help. My rhuemy said "Even if you're perfectly healthy, it'll make you feel better."
You'll probably gain weight though. Sorry.
I miss the good old days. Things were more like they used to be back then.

A week?  A flare will be interrupted, inflammation will stop, you will feel better....

Except of course if you have a negative reaction, but you won't know until you try.

You won't gain weight in a week.  I've been taking Medrol, 2.5 mg for 2.5 years, and I haven't lost weight, and did gain some that I'd lost previously, but I can't tolerate IVIG without Medrol, so no choice there

It is a form of prednisone and helps with anything involving inflammation.  It is the S (steroid) in NSAID (and in NON Steroidal Anti Inflammation Drug) like Aleve, and Ibuprofen.

Just a bit of clarification on you'r post, Elaine (Carolina).

In your last line it might be clearer if you said; it's a form of corticosteroid like prednisone.... it's the S(steroid) in NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) that is being avoided. NSAIDS like Aleve and Ibuprofen  are used to avoid the use of steroids, they don't contain any.
