Good places to retire, any suggestions?

Anybody else hate the heat and humidity we have down here in the summer? Our winters are pretty nice.
I need to find a nice place to retire that is warm enough to swim but not humid. I can't even take my dogs for a walk b/c I have to come back and shower and wash my hair. You know how dry our skin and hair gets so twice e a day showers aren't good  for us.

Any suggestions for good places to live up north in the summer near lakes or water for the average person? I still like to swim and the 80's are ok during the day.  I'd move to California but I doubt we could afford all the taxes... The climate would be nice. I do like cool winters.

I wish we had the $$ for two places but I don't think so.....

Colorado seems to have 'reasonable winters' and low  humidity summers.

Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, Denver?

I'm sure you'll get lots of recommendations.

We live in North Carolina and the summers are humid.  But I don't spend much time outdoors, and the time I'm outdoors it at the outdoor pool.

Yes, Elaine, it does seem like Colorado has a nice climate, doesn't it??    I was there in 2006 in May and it was warm, dry and no bugs! I like cooler winters too. I love the south but not the summers, so maybe I'll have to be a snowbird.

MN has hot humid summers and very cold dry winters. My daughter loves Campbell River, BC. People complain about lack of sun, but they have far more than MN.

Snowbird sounds nice if I could take the sun. I spend my life indoors with the sades closed.

A nice place to live near the water in the spring/summer and fall is the North Fork of the East End of Long Island. You can buy a home for a reasonable amount.   Winters are rough though.  I can not take heat and humidity so we live here May to Nov. and then to Fl. Nov. to May.

I hear how you can not have more than one house. San Diego is a very middle of the road climate year around. I would consider that.

Arizona. No humidity. It's great! I like that it can be the dead of summer and when you get out of the pool you need your towel to keep from getting cold. You drive up the mountains and you need a sweater. It's lovely scenery.
I miss the good old days. Things were more like they used to be back then.
