I take ballet for adults classes.

I was diagnosed with Sjögren's (and tested positive for Rheumatoid factor). After the first day of class I flared-up and my right ankle hurt real bad, but I love ballet too much...
Sjögren's syndrome (with Rheumatoid factor—ouchy). Onset in October 2013, finally correctly diagnosed mid-2015.

Currently, I walk as much as possible, which is usually 2 -3 mi.

Ballet, tap, & jazz were a big part of my childhood through my forties; I am so glad you are taking

ballet class. Dancing is so good for the body & soul.

Whenever posible, I dance around the house with my 4 yr old grand daughter. Today, I tried to teach

her the Grapevine  :). Fatigue is an issue, of course,  and there is always the carousel effect: fatigue

discourages activity, but lack of activity causes harm.

Keep dancing!

Hi!   I do water aerobics, physical therapy (for now), and work with the various machines at the fitness center.

Back in the day, of course, I did a much wider range of activities: ski, skate, hike, bike.  But with profound PN my activities are reduced dramatically.

Exercise is crucial to my well being.  It reduces pain, elevates mood, and gives an enhanced sense of physical well being.

Oh, thank you for mentioning the "carousel" effect! I had never heard of that and should probably Google it.

Do you need to know how to swim to do the "water aerobics" thing, or is it okay because the pool is shallow?

Hugs back!

Before I got sick I was already involved in Taekwondo which I still continue. I am a third degree blackbelt and certified instructor. I think because I was in very good shape it helped lessen some of the more physical symptoms. Since I got sick it's been more of a struggle to make all my classes, but I will not quit. It helps me both physically and mentally to continue.

While I do go to a gym 4 days a week, the best activity I do is volunteering.  Some of you might not believe this, but I have experienced it.  There is something in a smile - some sort of energy that it is literally transferred.  This afternoon I will be volunteering at Give Kids the World, a resort for children with life threatening illnesses.  Right now I feel horrible and I will really have to push to get down there, but once I hand out an ice cream cone or a bag of popcorn to a child who then smiles at me, I will immediately feel better - actually stronger.

I also teach remedial reading at a local jail.  Many of the inmates have never met anyone who actually cares about them and them as an individual. They are amazed that someone cares enough to actually help them without pay.  Many of them actually read well, but come to get their sentence lessoned.  As we work with them, I can feel the room fill with what I guess is love.  I don't know. What I do know is it gives me strength and I leave the jail feeling stronger and healthier.

I did not start volunteering as a treatment.  I was surprised by its effect.  Right now, I take too many pills to list, but volunteering has become my most effective medication.

I like to walk. It was to be on a flat hard surface.

I have to drive 10-15 minutes into town to walk where it is
safe, then drive back home. I do not get to do it often enough.
My treadmill is in the basement and I do not use it much
b/c it is boring.

Walk as much as i am able, but not all at one time. I have back and neck issues + fatige so can't do too much all at once (though to look at me you'd think I could run a marathon).

I also do Wii things like dance, bowling, etc.

I will soon be starting PT for my back and one goal is to ask what I can and cannot do re: exercise (I have spondylitis in multiple spots).

I've been told I should swim, but don't know how. i am very familiar with the benefits of  therapy pools and need to see if I can stand the heat.

I ride an exercise bike.  Riding is easy, but it's hard to sleep as my legs and hips hurt during the night.   It wakes me up.

My doctor said walking is the only exercise I should do because of the RA.  I had a knee replaced in July.  The knee is great, but now I have a metatarsal issue and still limp even with my shoe insert. My luck!
