PS .. if you have heart problems or you take statins .. be SURE to add CoQ10.

this means that is OK to take Q10 or not, excuse me if i ask again but  english is not my language so i do not understand if BE SURE means its good or not

Statin drugs deplete our CoQ10 .. so if you take statins you need to add CoQ10 to your regimen.

CoQ10 also helps heart arrythmias.

Great Ashler, I'd be happy to hear about your experience with it.

I tried CoQ10 a couple of years ago and it did provide more energy, no change in saliva - but made my skin awfully itchy  ::)

Also tried N-acetyl-cysteine, it did stimulate saliva, but also anxiety.

So far the only thing which increases saliva without terrible side effects is testosterone, besides the weight gain & constipation.

Seems like I can't win...

Did you try the CoQ10 as Ubiquinol?
I'm wondering if the brand you tried had anything to do with the itching.
Could've had additional ingredients that caused a reaction maybe?
I've been trying N-acetyl-cysteine from Solgar and so far no anxiety (no more than usual, anyway  ;))

Sharon,

To be honest with you, I can't remember if it was Ubiquinol...
Did see it in the health food store today and thought 'what a weird name for a supplement'... Maybe a sign from above? ... lol...

Thank goodness you don't have the anxiety like I do. I'm simply very sensitive to... well, everything?

Keep me posted please ;)

Well, my sensitivities may manifest in different ways: rashes and skin swelling for example (we've both got the itching issue).
I'm still waiting for the Ubiquinol I ordered to arrive.
Hope I'll be able to post something positive soon... :)

UPDATE: I'm pleased to report my Ubiquinol trial findings:

After 30 days of daily doses of 200mg Ubiquinol: Increased saliva, decreased burning tongue symptom
After 45 days on the same doses: I feel like a normal person saliva-wise! No more burning tongue, no waking up with dry mouth, no sipping water throughout the day, no coughing from dry throat!

Conclusion:This stuff actually works!  :D

I've tried numerous supplements for SJS symptoms, but this is the only one which I can definitely say makes a difference, and what a difference! I highly recommend it.

Thanks for the update, Sharon. Glad to hear you got good results. This thread, along with MetalFae's last week, is really making me lean towards trying ubiquinol. While more saliva would be great, I'd really be hoping for some dry eye relief like someone it MetalFae's thread experienced. Since starting ubiquinol, have you noticed a difference with your eyes?

Unfortunately I have not noticed a change in eye dryness with this.
I've read we have ubiquinol receptors in our salivary glands, but with eyes it seems to benefit them in a different manner which is not related specifically to dryness:
