Update: day 46 is coming to a close on Ubiniquol. I'm thinking it "could" be helping some. My symptoms have stayed in the fairly mild range. Annoying as crap, but not intolerable as in the past. I'm hoping to be symptom free of dry mouth in the future or as darn close to it as I can get. I may increase to 200mg. Is that safe? Are there side effects? I did a spit test in a little measuring cup. No increase in volume. It was the same as when ENT performed it in Feb. I guess the same is better than less...

Sharon

I began with 200mg for about 2 months then eventually reduced to 100mg which seems enough to maintain the beneficial results I've achieved so far.
I had no adverse side effects and know of none but you can google it if you're concerned.

I ran out of ubiquinol capsules over the weekend and won't be reordering for now. After taking 100 mg per day for a month, I switched to 200 mg and didn't notice an improvement in saliva production. At first I thought my eyes seemed better, but even on 200 per day (taken together for a while and then switching to separate for a while) they were dry. Maybe I'll try again in the fall when pollen season won't be a factor like it was recently.

Ubiquinol is still working wonderfully for me as far as producing saliva.
When I have a flare I need to raise the dosage to 200mg,
otherwise 100mg nightly does the trick!  :)
I wouldn't expect it to help with eye dryness, as it specifically activates the saliva secretion mechanisms.

What brand were you taking Sunshine, and for how long altogether?

I used NOW brand 100 mgs per day from February 20 to March 26 and then 200 mgs per day from March 27 to May 7.

I'm good with Evoxac for saliva and need help with my eyes. After seeing this thread, I poked around online and saw some people (very few) commented that ubiquinol helped alleviate their eye dryness. Dry eyes are my worst symptom so I figured I would give it a try hoping to be one of the lucky few. It was a long shot but worth a try if there was a possibility it would help.

Glad it helps you and others with saliva, though!

I also use NOW brand. Wish it would help me with the dry eyes as well!

For dry eyes I find low dose Dhea to be very effective. I'm taking 5mg and am even able to wear contact lenses again, who would have thought?! Punchline is, however. it only works if I take it intravaginally... 🙄

Thank you for the suggestion, Maria. I will ask my doctor about that at next appointment.

Hi guys (but mostly gals I guess),
Here goes another update:

Since I've posted about my positive experiences with Ubiquinol significantly increasing my saliva,
some have messaged me asking if any ENT has confirmed my increase in saliva, or is it just my subjective feeling that I now have saliva? I have always claimed that if I can now make spit balls something objective is going on.

So now confirmation that Ubiquinol works (at least for me):
I went to a salivary gland specialist today to investigate my recurring parotid gland swelling after eating (yes, there is such a doctor that specializes specifically in salivary gland diseases!). He pressed on my salivary glands as others have done before him and lo and behold he exclaims:
"Your saliva flow is normal and so is the quality of your saliva. It's thin and clear"!  :D

Before I began Ubiquinol I had been to numerous doctors who had pressed (very hard!) on my glands and had told me I wasn't producing barely any saliva and that the little that was coming out was thick and mucus-like.

I'm always glad to have the opportunity to post something positive, as it's so rare for us to actually find treatments that work (and without any negative side effects)!  :)

For those who take 200mg/daily (regularly or for flare ups), do you take all at once, or two x 100mg doses? If the latter, do what time of day?

I'm hitting a flare up and need to up saliva output :(

Thanks!

Hi Pete, I take the full dose at night before bed since that works for me,
but you may need to experiment a bit to find out what works for you.
