Hi  :)

The weekend before last hubby and I drove down to Nottingham to watch my oldest daughter rowing. She took up rowing at University but we never got the chance to see her. We had younger kids still at home and they were not good travelers.

She gave up rowing for a number of years but then joined a club and too it up again. She takes it pretty seriously. she is in her 30s now - so is in the 'masters' class (races for older people!) The event we went to was an annual Masters Championship and there were 800 crews competing in various categories over the course of two days. All her races were on the first day. It rained all day so I didn't have to worry about sunburn! She was rowing in a double and in a quad. Both boats made the finals and their quad came in third so they all got a bronze medal - which was good to see.

After the racing we drove south with her and stayed at her house for a week. We haven't actually seen her for a while. The following weekend we drove north to see our youngest son. Had a really nice Nepalese meal with him.

Then we went and saw our youngest daughter and her 19 month old son. She is expecting a daughter on the 6th July. The day we arrived she had been hill climbing - with photos to prove it. The day we left she was going to have a 6 hour drive to go and shadow people at a firm she is hoping to get a job with one day. She has been doing a Master's degree this year and the head of this firm is going to supervise her dissertation which she seems to think she will write while the new baby naps! I was worried about her driving but she said it was OK - she had her hospital bag in the car in case she got caught short!

Really enjoyed seeing them all but found the actual drive quite uncomfortable and made hubby stop more frequently than usual. He said it was reminiscent of having small kids in the car.

Now home - and bored!

Take care - Scottie  :)

It's so good to hear of all the visits with your children. Nothing better than that.

Scottie, I'm amazes at how much you have done, especially after your horrible bowel issues. Well done you. Will this be your third grandchild?

Wow, Scottie, I am impressed with your daughter and her rowing competition. I bet it was fun to watch. You are a much better woman than I am to do all that traveling when you are feeling not the best. Well wishes go out to your daughter at her ensuing delivery. You have had all these grandkids while on this site. Rest up and maybe something exciting will show up that you can do. so glad that you got to see all your kids in one big swoop. Irish

Scottietottie

Hi Irish  :)

It was partly the current 'flare' that pushed me to want to go see them. Eyes have been playing up since March and causing shadow letters. Have an opthamology appointment but not till September.

Had a minor panic attack about maybe not being able to see. Realised I'd never seen Bev row and managed to persuade hubby it would be a nice thing to do. Apart from the rain - it was!!

I'm not running fevers or anything - so the aches and pains are better coped with if I have some distraction!

Take care - Scottie  :)

Oh Scottie,

So glad you were able to make this trip. I think it is the kind of therapy we all need. It just feels like an escape from Sjogren's (to some degree).

I just had a visit to Rome to see our son who works at the Embassy. I really pushed myself (because I was so excited to be there). Now, in addition to the
wine & Olive Oil we brought back, I brought back at least one Baker's Cyst behind my right knee & possibly one in the left. But you know what...it was worth it.

As I hobble around in pain, I am still smiling from ear to ear!

Lucky You!!  ;D

Ouch SjoDry!

Hope you get some relief soon!

I love Rome! It was a long time since I was there but a place well worth visiting!

We only get one life so we just have to live it as best we can!

Take care - Scottie  :)
