Permanent swollen parotid gland

Hi All

My left parotid gland has been permanently swollen/firm for years.
GPs always say, just a little swelling.
At last a GP sent me for an ultrasound which showed "hypoechoic solid mass" - tumour.
Now I'm to have FNA to assess if it's malignant.  Will see what solution GP comes up with after results of FNA.
From my research surgery will be necessary to remove the tumour & radiation if malignant which I doubt it is.
I've read this lump could be a blocked duct (saliva flows from gland into mouth), a parasite (which I've heaps of) or a stone.

I used to suffer from soreness/swelling of both glands (so painful could hardly eat/talk sometimes) until I began using glyconutrients 7 yrs ago when the right gland has ceased being swollen, but the left gland while never sore is permanently swollen.  Was hoping it would clear up like the right gland.

Will let you know the outcome of the FNA & what will happen next.

Regards & best wishes managing this illness to everyone.

What is your diet like? Your current height and weight?

I've a VERY healthy diet.
My height is 5' 7".
I'm under weight, always have been.
Was 50 kls for yrs until losing weight 1.5 yrs ago, now 45 kls.
Hoping getting rid of parasites, viruses, worms will help my digestive system & I'll gain weight.

Something doesn't add up then. Can I ask what you eat on a daily/weekly basis? Sometimes what we consider healthy is not, especially when parasites and worms are involved. It seems that you also have a very sensitive gut. How are your bowel movements?

I had this issue years ago, GP fobbed me off and made me feel stupid for asking. But it kept getting bigger so I went back 2 years later😁 had an emergency refferal incase it was cancer, had a fine needle biopsy and was told it was benign, had to have the whole parotid gland removed via surgery it's quite a big op, took 4 hours due to facial nerve involvement, if you need this op get a surgeon who does it a lot as its delicate surgery.

Thanks for the warning re 4 hrs to remove parotid gland.
I have FNA next week.  Guess the FNA determines if benign, then take things from there.
Yes, if needed I'll be ensuring I get a really good surgeon especially since I have little trust in Drs in general.

I'll keep you posted!

Re my healthy diet:

I eat meat & vegies/salad, buckwheat, brown rice, eggs, salmon, a little fruit,  refined sugar occassionally, hardly any processed foods, takeaways.
Also make bone broth which is supposed to provide lots of nutrients.

Drink heaps of water LOL  I've never drunk tea or coffee, can't stand the taste or smell.

Think I can say I eat healthy!

I've not absorbed nutrients properly for years.

When 6 yrs old I had dengue fever so parasites are a real possibility in digestive/intestines/even parotid gland.
I know everyone has worms of some kind though.

Hubby's said for years I've got worms, bless him!

I'm not one to give up searching for help with this SS illness which I was diagnosed with in 1991 & sure I had it back in high school at least.

Consuming glyconutrient products I have energy/feel well, work 4 days/week still at 57 yrs old.
Don't work Wednesdays to rest my eyes in the middle of the week.

Other than sleeping pills, thyroxine (not a pharmaceutical drug according to my hormone Dr although people think it is) I consume no pharmaceutical meds which I avoid if at all possible.

I'm trying to do the best I can like everyone else with this illness.
