Kathyx - awww, what a bummer that the people who like your place can't do anything until they sell TWO of their places.   :(

Have you had any more interested parties since that showing?

I hope someone comes along and is looking for a place just like your house and can buy it from you.

Good Luck, dear.

We are in the same boat.  I have had my house up for sale for over 3 years (that I had before I married in another County) and now we have DH's house.  We want to move out to a more rural area and get a house that suits us better.  Unfortunately, until my house EVER sales and we can put this one up for sale...not happening.

I can't tell you how many houses we have found that would be perfect for us but we can't even consider it right now.  And I know, if we ever get to that point, we probably will not find a one!

Bucky

Okay - here's an update of projects going on at my house . . . . .

All of the new flooring is in!   ;D  Yay!!

Whew, what a project to move furniture from one room to another and back again.  In fact, some of the furniture ISN'T moved back into the living room yet from the carpet laying that was just done on Friday.  We're getting new living room furniture delivered tomorrow, so I want to wait to put other things back until they get the furniture in first.

Today, I even washed and rehung the living room curtains.

We only had one snafu in the flooring process.  The salesman told us that they would be removing the toilets, laying the floor, and then re-installing the toilets in the bathrooms.  Well, since they were going to be doing that, we bought new toilets to be installed.   When the installer took the existing toilet out, he said he wouldn't be able to install the new toilets, that we would have to get a plumber to do that.  (salesman never told them about new toilets going in) :o  Great . . . here we are in the middle of a project and at a standstill.

I frantically call a plumber that has done work at our house before and ask if there is anyone available to come TODAY to install these toilets (explained to him the situation).  He asks me to hold on, and then comes back on the line and said there were two men working in the next town over and they would come on their lunch break and take care of it.  Two hours later, the men arrive, install the toilets and we're ready to go again.

Unfortunately, the floor installer had to leave early that day to pick up his kids from school - so, even though the toilets were in and the project ready to continue, we had to wait.  What was suppose to be a "probably one-day" installation of the kitchen / bathroom flooring, turned into 2-1/2 days.  Ugh!  Oh well . . it's done now.   :D

By the way . . . I called the salesman and asked if they were picking up the bill for the plumber since I was told they would be able to install the new toilets.  His reply, "Well, we normally don't do that.  There are times where there are additional costs that is incurred on a job that is the homeowners responsibility.  However, since you are a good customer, we WILL pick up the cost for the plumber."  Yay - so, they will be sending us a check for that amount.   I'm sure in the long run, it was no skin off their nose, as they charged us dearly in the first place!!   ;)

We all love our new floors.  I'll be glad when I can open up the windows and get some of the "new carpet" smell out of the house.

Now, to do all the other little projects I have up my sleeve . . . .

See my next post.   ;)

During our floor remodeling, we had to take the doors off the pantries (we have two, one across from the other).  We haven't put the doors back up yet . . . I'm really liking how it looks without the doors.

I'm thinking of putting up some curtain in the doors place - but, will have to think on that one.  Today, while I washed up the living room curtains, I held them up to the pantry - they didn't look too bad.

Now, I need to re-organize the pantries.  I have spent hours looking at pictures and samples of pantries on-line.  Some people have really nice walk-in pantries, mines not that big.

One of our pantries has five shelves - each 10" deep, that holds all the canned goods, box mixes, cereal, baking ingredients, etc.  The other pantry, has five shelves - two shelves are 22" deep, and three shelves are 11" deep, that holds special pans, blender, small crock, waffle maker, Pyrex dishes, Tupperware, extra paper towels, paper plates, napkins, plate holders, bags of potato chips, garbage bags, food storage bags, drinking pitchers, special occasion party supplies (plates, napkins, cups), etc.  On the bottom shelf in this pantry we keep batteries and cleaning supplies - window cleaner, toilet bowl cleaner, goo-gone, WD40, etc.  (Although, currently, both pantries only have four shelves in there as I had to empty the bottom shelf so they could lay the flooring in there.  If there was someway I could manage it, I like it WITHOUT that bottom shelf in both pantries.)

In the pictures I've seen online - a lot of people use baskets, containers,  and racks to put all their pantry items on their shelves.  I saw a cute idea using magazine holders to store canned goods or pasta - but, I tried mine and they are too narrow.

I guess what I need to do is take EVERYTHING out of the pantry (one side at a time) - and then put it back according to "zones" - which is how it sorta is right now, anyhow.

I think it would help to keep the doors off, as it obscured the far corners of the pantry that I couldn't see very well because the doors are bi-fold and only go back so far.  Without the doors, I can see the whole pantry - and there wouldn't be any long forgotten "surprises" tucked away in the corners never to see the light of day again.

What does YOUR pantry look like?  What do you keep in your pantry?  Any suggestions or ideas from any of you of what works in YOUR pantry?

There is EVERYTHING in my pantry.  It's technically pitiful.  We have so much stuff in there, that every time I straighten it out, it takes literally a couple of weeks to be back into a mess.  My problem is that it isn't really big and I don't have tons of cabinets.  It has like five shelves.  The top shelf holds everything from party supplies, to extra light bulbs.  The 2nd shelf has all baking supplies.  The third is boxed goods, the fourth cans.  The bottom shelf(floor) has all the pet supplies, extra appliances and water/coke bottles.

Congrats on getting your floors all done did!

Mrs Bucky, you have been a busy bee BUT try not to tire yourself out before the graduation - you need to be able to enjoy it.

I'm envious of your pantries. We don't even have one, however, we do have an abundance of kitchen cabinets.

The potential house-buyers came back with an offer - they had somehow found the money. However, it was far too low, and wouldn't have allowed us to move into the house we really would like. We did reduce it to a most reasonable price, but their offer really wasn't reasonable, so back to the drawing board for now. We might try having a whole day 'open house' if we haven't had any more offers after Easter.

Velcro, good luck with your house sale. It seems like an endless task, but someone will come along one day and love your place.

Hugs
Kathyx

Everyone has been so busy.. wow.
We had a bug in the family that was like a 'slow motion' bowling ball knocking us out one by one.. and we lingered.

Yesterday I was backing out of the driveway and pulled a "slccom".. nabbed the tree service crew working across the street and they dropped off a full truck load of great mulch at the top of the drive.

Basically the two of us 10 wheel barrels.. break.. then again. Looks great in the front.
Wonder where the plants are I planted last fall? I'll rake it away and hunt..lol.
They are doing more work in the immediate area.. I have to get to the bank and give them a tip. They were so nice.

Felt great to outside.

Pantry.. our shelves were spaced to far apart in height, and things get lost in the back.. I hate that hunt. So we had measured and added shelves in between (3/4 the depth to not block out light or reach). Added a shelf to top for light bulky things. And one more under the last shelf for baking sheets .. so they are not sitting in the oven anymore..  ;) Bags of rice and such are in large clear plastic bin. Cat food bag, large olive oil, etc on floor.

Katybarstool.. did your interested party respond to a counter-offer?
What do you mean by too much red?
Hope an open house goes well. When we have one I want the realtor to put balloons on the open house signs.. catches some drivers attention as well as they come up to the sign. Just saw in a magazine in a Dr. office advice that realtors should advertise on twitter, facebook and Craigslist, anything internet to get hits.
I also rearranged the shelves in the fridge so milk and juice, etc. is easier for me to lift.

Lots of great Jugglers are posting here.

My juggling is much simpler: sleep, eat, drink, breathe........

My new mantra:  Don't just do something, stand there. (or sit).

I find I just pick up one thing at a time, so I'm just juggling one thing.

And then a drop it.

Velcro, good luck with your house sale. It seems like an endless task, but someone will come along one day and love your place.

Thank you.  We have only had one offer as well and it was well below the value and ridiculous as well.  We have already dropped the price to only cover the loan and commission.  I'm not making anything on it at all.  I simply need out from under it and it's priced now almost $15,000 below what it's worth.

Showing it again this morning.  Fingers crossed!

I don't know what kind of contract you have with your real estate agent, but if you go on Dave Ramsey's site and click on endorsed local provider, you can find the best agent in your area. They really follow up to make sure that the provider is doing a good job.

Thank you.  There are only 3 realtors in town.  One big firm and two locals.  I went with the big one (Century 21).  The problem is in the town it's in.  About the time I left and remarried, the economy there tanked.  They used to have 5 manufacturing facilities there, now none.  It's a very small, rural town and there is no jobs there.  It will take someone retiring (it's beautiful) or someone who doesn't mind a 45 minute, one way commute for it to sale.

I see. You work with what you have, then! Good luck!

Thank you.  They just called and have another showing tomorrow, so at least people are still looking.
