Good for you!

Don't keep them together all the time in the beginning. You still don't know your new family members temperament. While she knows you a little she still needs time to adjust. Your new friend may want to wander back to familiar territory because that's all she knows.

I hope all goes smoothly for you.

Sjogren's, seronegative RA,  ckd, hyperparathyroidism, asthma,  osteoporosis,  Meds:  amlodipine, low dose Prednisone, calcium, sodium bicarbonate. Also, multivitamin and B complex

I am being careful to let them only together when i am out there. It will take time, my worry is she is looking for escapes. Already she found a weak spot in the fence lol, I jimmed it for now, but will have to see about getting a new piece of fence there.

She is happy go lucky and so far has deferred to my other dog, so thats good she isnt dominant personality type.  I keep going outside with her, well if one thing good about all this its keeping me active lol

Yay!  And if there hasn't been a big issue between them yet, that's looking good.

I'm so glad to hear the good news! Our dogs have always been little, or pretty little, and in 34 years of rescuing dogs, we have NEVER had a problem  with the current dogs rejecting a new arrival. We stay out of letting them figure out their place in the household, since we haven't had a problem. We do keep them wearing a harness as well as collar, so in the rare events of, shall we  say, a canine disagreement, we have a handy carrying handle to relocate the squabblers.

Hint: never leave a turkey carcass in the kitchen trash!

LOL Sharon. Well she is still wild kinda, she wants to run the countryside so looking like an escape artist. So far my old dog just dont care and my other little dog plays with her till she has enough then she gives a warning growl of the pup jumps on her. She is still a puppy so much energy. I wish I had half her energy I would be super woman

Escape artists are quite a tough challenge! Good luck with that.

The best thing I EVER DID FOR ME was get a DOG..no one and nothing will love you more unconditionally...stay by your side on bad days..plus my dog somehow can make me get up and move when nothing else can..those eyes..have to go outside. All any animal needs is LOVE and you just saved another living being..good karma..That dog will love you forever.

Dee

Is there a name already that you know of or are going to rename her?

Oh Tivia

I just read this whole thread and it was like reading a book!!  I am so glad you decided to save the dog!  I know how hard that decision was and if you can't keep the dog or something happens you can at least find a home for it because you will have trained it....it breaks my heart EVERY TIME I hear stories like this.  Why do people do this??

I too am an animal lover and you just made my day!!  Hope it goes well and your little pack comes together.  Good luck with the escape artist, they find places you would never ever think was possible!!!! :)
