Minor irritations

Hi
Do you find that because of having SjS other minor health problems are more irritating? Periodically my hands and feet break out with pompholyx eczema. I know in the grand scheme of things that is not a big deal but I am so sick of itching and peeling and the feet blisters make walking pretty uncomfortable.

I also have a rash down the inside of one arm that none of my docs have a clue about. Its been there since March - and it itches too. Seeing a dermatologist this week for a follow up about something unrelated so am going to see if he can make sense of it.

Poor hubby is getting pretty fed up with me moaning about this or that but it would be so nice not to feel uncomfortable and it just isn't going to happen!

I know I'm lucky that with me SjS is a 'condition' rather than an illness, so I am in a better place than many but hec I'm getting fed up with little bits and pieces that crop up!

Take care - Scottie  :)

mistyrain

Hi Scottietottie: I posted here for a while as Sage and then lost touch - now I figure Mistyrain might be a better name than a drought tolerant plant - LOL!  Have just had a pacemaker installed without any problems except the clear patch covering it was supposed to disintegrate after the first shower. Three showers later and red welts from the patch - such a small irritation driving me bananas - but the nurse just said to remove it - what a relief.  Yes, absolutely the small things will get you.  They actually gave me ice chips to suck on before the procedure as it was the sjoggie symptoms (dehydration because of fasting I figured might kill me first - so far so good!

Hi Mistyrain  :)

Welcome back. Pacemaker - major! Any time I have had an op I have asked that I can swill my mouth round with water and spit out. They have been OK with that.

Litliwlowa - My hubby doesn't really 'get' anything - unless it has happened to him. I remember when he was put on Statins for suspected angina. He was so upset. he said "You just don't understand! How would you feel if you were told you had to take pills every day for the rest of your life!" I looked at him dumbstruck before totally offending him by roaring and laughing. I'd been taking Plaquenil and thyroxine for 4 years by then.

Take care - Scottie : )

As Jimmy Buffet said so well:

If we couldn't laugh we would all go insane!

Of course the little things (which wouldn't be little if we didn't have so d*** many BIG ones to compare them to) make us crazy.

It's the frosting on the cake!  The proverbial straw...........

I'm going insane anyway, just for the record.

About two years ago I had such a list I was "over the top".  Fissure cracks on the heels of my feet AND a fungus on the bottoms of both big toes, all bleeding.  I left bloody spots everywhere I walked when I got up to go to the bathroom AGAIN with my chronic UTIs and interstitial cystitis.

My knee surgery STILL wasn't healed (the orthopedist said he'd see me again to do the knee replacement) and I was in agony if I sat in one place for any time, but I also couldn't stand or walk due to the severe (profound the neurologist said) Peripheral neuropathy.

I was sweating, dizzy and fainting and falling all the time.  And we went to the beach for a week, twice, drove  half way cross the country to visit family for two weeks, AND spent three weeks in Cuba in August.

That WAS insane.

Now my feet are well! (yes yes yes).  My knee is better (three years after the surgery).  I don't get so dizzy when I stand up, but I'm very very careful.  The UTIs haven't appeared for almost a year (shhh, are they listening?), and I take D-Mannose which may be the reason.

I've lost about 35 lbs, and NO it doesn't cure a d***** thing.  I TOLD you it wasn't my weight!

But I do feel better about myself for sure.

Most of the time I manage.  I have a new diagnosis, CVID, and maybe will have to deal with that at the end of the month.

But, it's always something, and then something else.

A day at a time.

Relaxing, meditating, taking care of myself.

Hugs

Elaine

I totally agree- the big stuff , like RA that can kill me, I handle pretty well
but its the little annoying stuff that drives me nuts

ibs- c my whole life and when that acts up I am so grouchy

and the urinary stuff- grrrrrrr.... so I watch my diet like a fanatical person- low oxalates!!!! or else I pay pay pay....

like Elaine always says " its always something"....

hang in there!!!

I do know what you mean. With all the other stuff it's like I don't want to have to bother with this. It just gets to be too much. Little here, little there, on top of the big stuff, and well sooner or later somethings got to give.
