Hi all,

Please could you confirm some terminology for me, when people say that they are having a 'flare' is it when the symptoms from Sjogrens 'flare' up and become more prominent than normal! Yes? Don't suppose there is any rhyme or reason for it is there?!

This morning I tried to get up out of bed and my entire body felt like a sack of potatoes. My hands, feet and body had this strange feeling, not tingling, but just a wave of something, heavy and like the power socket had disconnected and power was draining out of me. Felt tired all week and this was the culmination. I also feel like I can't concentrate so well. As I have busy weeks coming up I do hope that this will pass for me soon, guessing everyone is different but I had this about 9 mths ago for a few days, as Sjogrens progresses would this be something that comes on a more regular basis or not. I know that many of you on this forum are so knowledgeable that I needed your help with this question.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

Dx Mild Primary Sjogrens by Rheumy. High RF factor, High RO Antibodies. Dry ears, dry/sore eyes, use eye gel/drops. Joint pain, get very tired. Take Inhalers for asthma, Allergic to Plaquenil. Stopped Amitriptyline it made me pile on weight! :-(

Yes. A flare or flare-up of the disease.  My Rheumy says when I'm flaring, the disease is more active causing the symptoms to get worse.

Thank you Velcro. I hope this passes soon.

I hope it does too.  When I'm in a major flare, that goes on for several weeks, they have me take huge doses of prednisone for a few days, then taper off over the next week to kill down the flare. My linear Morphea does the most damage to my tissues and muscles when I'm in a continuous flare. The down side is that the prednisone makes me feel worse for a few days until it knocks the flare down.

Please excuse my ignorance, what is 'linear Morphea?

It is a rare form of scleroderma.  It eats my skin, tissue and muscle on my left arm.  My type only strikes one area and it was my arm.  I have a bound down groove from the atrophy and other than that, it causes the similar symptoms of the other autoimmunes. Fever, fatigue, joint pain, etc.

It's hard to describe. Here's a pic of my arm. The line you see running down my bicep, is the groove where the tissue/muscle are missing and the skin has bound down.

Oh! thank you. Never seen this or heard of it before. You learn something new every day.

Thanks  :)
