Folks, We prayed for rain for months and when it started we were thrilled. Now it is getting to be a little much. The farmer with fields next to our house got his beans planted on June 20th---about 1 month later than usual.

It has rained about every other day---sometimes everyday and sometimes a couple times a day. This morning our tomatoes were standing in water. We have never had this much water in our garden before.

I don't know how many inches we have had since it started but am afraid to ask. I do know that the weather man on TV said that between March and May(total of 3 months) there were 15 days of sunshine in the twin cities of MN. Just unreal. Any stories from the rest of you folks. Irish

We are way above average for this year, so far.  We are 10 inches above normal.  We've had lots of flash flooding the last couple of months.

Carolina

Not right this minute, Irish, but LATER today we expect thunder showers (again).

It's always something, eh?

Hugs

There is so much our road is flooded out and has been since about May, give or take with the days we get sun and we can get down it. My hubby gets down it with his 4x4 but some days are very very bad. They are looking at evacuations now. We aren't going yet.

Got another inch last night. I think that makes 8 or 9 in the past few weeks to a month.

4kids, May I ask what state you live in??? I bet you are feeling the humidity like we do. It is just terrible and with my myasthenia I just sit and sweat--in the house or out of the house. We have air but if I so much as get up and walk across the room I start to sweat. The sweat runs out of my head like water and has corroded the frames of my glasses. Really weird. My neuro says that people with myasthenia sweat big time. So I noticed!!!

I hope the weather gets better for all of you. It is supposed to be dryer for the next few days and the humidity is supposed to go down. I think the lakes were green and stinky before the first of June this year with all the rain and the warm enough temps. Always something new with the weather. No matter what we will complain!! IRish

Actually I am in Canada, right smack sort of in the middle of Saskatchewan. It is unseasonably cold with the rain and when it isn't raining it gets to be about 26 or 27 which is plenty warm for me cause we have no a/c in this house YET.  ;)

We are tough guys.  If I lived any further south I wouldn't be though.  I can't take heat at all. Or bugs... Or snakes...

You may have heard about our horrible flooding here in Alberta.  There are complete towns that are especially washed away.  And tens of thousands of poor folks have been unable to return to their flooded homes since Friday.  Bridges gone, highways gone.  It is a public health nightmare.

Please think positive thoughts for our neighbours in Southern Alberta.  I am afraid their lives will never be the same.

My sympathies Carebear. During Sandy so many in the southern part of my state lost homes and are still not back in. I am further north in the state but not far from the river. My neighbors in lower lying sections of the city were also flooded out. I live on higher ground so I was lucky. My agency provided help to many people during that time and the stories people told were heartbreaking. We were so much luckier than our southern neighbors but a catastrophe like flooding leaves deep scars.

Those affected in Canada are in my prayers as I send thoughts of support your way.

We are DRY in Texas. Wish we could take some of that rain from you!  It looks so bad up North though. I feel bad for all of you that are having to deal with the constant rain. Stay dry!

Yep, rain is one of those 4-letter words along with heat and snow!!   ;)

We've had a lot of rain here in Central IL too.  Towns close to the IL River got flooded last month from all the rain.  Lots of vehicles up to their windows in water, basements flooded, roadways flooded, the river waaaaay over it's banks.

This week alone, we've had 6 inches of rain! (5 inches in one day)

Last year, during our drought, we would have welcomed the rain with open arms.  This year has more than made up for the drought of last year.

Many of the farmers fields are standing in water.   :(  Too late to replant this year.  As always, it ends up being the ripple effect . . . farmers have lower yields, grocery prices go up.

Wish it was an simple as just "sending" the rain to the areas that need it.  All those fires in CA, CO and TX where they needed rain and weren't getting any.

These extreme weather patterns are becoming more and more global.  Who would ever think Alaska would have 94 degree weather in June??  :o

Stay safe everyone and heed the warnings if they are issued in your area.

Yes, yes, yes...way too much rain here, just outside of Philadelphia Pa!  Everyday for 5 days my hubby drove home from work in torrential downpours and could not enjoy any sunny, out door weather.  My vegies and some flowers are suffering from "root rot" from too much rain.

Yesterday we got lucky....no rain, but today it rained and ruined any outdoor plans and it is predicted to rain at least some every day for the next 10 days!!!  Some are to be very heavy too....we are saying enough already!!  And the poor people in the western half of the country are too hot and dry!

Please, send some out West. We just lost 19 wild-firefighters in Arizona.  :'(

slccom,

I just heard this terrible news about the firefighters. Such an awful tragedy. My thoughts are with all the families involved.

The heat in the west is unbelievable and I hear will be record-breaking today. Take care!

The firefighters put their life on the line for us.  What a tragedy.

And here we had 5 inches of rain in the area, over the weekend!

What next?  Raining frogs?
