Hello all,
I've been battling a nasty cold for a week and a half and pushing through work and home stuff. I finally left work yesterday and went to a minute clinic because my wonderful PCP is moving to Florida and I haven't found a replacement doc.

So the cold turned to a sinus infection, which is what I guessed happened so I'm on amoxicillian. I woke up today with NO voice, not even a whisper! I am a teacher and cannot work with no voice!

Anyways this morning I also noticed a pain in my back so I thought I better not mess around & get checked.  I got in to see another doc. at the Cleveland clinic right away and she listened to my lungs and said no pnuemonia or pluerisy & probably strained muscles coughing.

I'm on the couch feeling crappy forgetting how lucky I've been to go back to work full time. I am throwing a pity party for myself. I am taking tomorrow off to rest but must go in Thursday for state testing.

I'm also very worried I will be too sick to take my daughter to the Taylor Swift concert Thursday night
with a group of our friends. It was her birthday present back in January and I would feel awful to miss it as she is so excited (I'd rather be sleeping) but anything for my sweetie. Especially since the past few years I've been too sick for anything fun.

I know this sounds very selfish as I'm doing better than a lot here & betterthen I have been in years
but I just needed a place to vent and this place is where I can really be honest about how I am physically and mentally feeling. (I hide it all at work)

I feel crappy. I miss my doctor. I don't want to let my daughter down. And did I mention I feel crappy?!!
Thanks, engy

I do hope you feel better soon.  Take advantage of the time you have off today and tomorrow and try real hard to do nothing but rest.  The Amoxicillin should be helping by Thursday.  Maybe a nice heating pad on your back.  Lots of fluids, tea, etc. and try hard to eat nutritious. Sleep is the best medicine for healing. Pace yourself and hopefully you will have just enough energy to get through Thursday.   Sending good thoughts your way.....

Can you quietly contact the other mom and ask if she can take them in case you are too sick to do it? Driving tired and ill is a really bad idea.

Big hug coming your way Engy.  Guess we all have had crappy days , so know how you feel .
First reply gives good advice, take it and I'm sure you will be ok for your sweeties B'Day treat.
                                    Bless,   Dolly

Momedic

You might try some extra B12 and Potassium for some extra energy for a week or so.  I don't know if it will help before Thursday but you could try... couldn't hurt.  I do that every once in awhile when I need a boost of energy. Just don't take too much potassium for long periods of time as it can be dangerous but for a couple days, especially when you are sick, could help your energy level. Hope you feel better soon!!

I have tears (yes real ones) in my eyes reading your kind words!

bmonahan, thanks for the advice & good thoughts. I'm going to rest all I can &  hubby is a big help.

Sharon, there are 3 moms and our 3 daughters going and another mom is driving. Thanks for being so thoughtful, it's going to be hard enough to stay awake when I'm used to being in bed by 8!

Dolly, I struggle every day but put on a happy face. The last few days I can't smile, thanks for the hug!

Momedic, good idea, I will have hubby give me another b12 shot tomorrow.

Thanks to all who read and care but too tired/ busy/ hurting to respond. It means so much to have this forum!

Oh my heart goes out to you. Seems to me some of the most difficult aspects of this disease is that it is chronic and unpredictable. You can be going along thinking all is well, feeling good, then boom something go awry. Even if things seems to be on the upswing when you have a set back you may be reminded this bugger ain't going away. Hang in there, you are not alone.

Oh my I'm so upset! I got myself well enough to go and my daughter has fever of 102 and is throwing up everywhere.

We are missing the concert  :'(

She feels horrible, I feel worse.

She hasn't been sick since last May! Almost a year. Stupid &$?;.;()$! virus!!!

Not many ten year olds are as kind and deserving as she is (I know, I teach 52 of them everyday!)

I stopped asking why I got so many diseases but come on, give my ten year old a break! She already deals with Celiac & being gluten free.

I know she isn't dying from a horrible disease & life goes on but darn it, she deserved to enjoy her favorite singer tonight with her mom & friends.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr >:(

Thanks for your kind words & thoughts, I do appreciate them

Oh how sad!
But, she has the best mom ever who wanted to share this concert even when sick.
Hopefully there will be other concerts....

I bet that missing the concert hurts even more than feeling so sick! Poor dear. Maybe you can get her a nice CD?

So sorry to hear that you have been sick...really stinks when you have children who are relying on you, I totally understand.  I have had more issues since having SJS with respiratory infections and they seem to linger and linger forever even with antibiotics.

Hope all worked out with you and your daughter.

Yes we missed the concert. I am feeling better. Well I still have my regular, daily, chronic issues but my infection is gone.

My daughter still has a horrible cough but at least her fever is gone, it lasted 3 days!!

Anyways, friends bought our tickets so it wasn't a total waste.

My daughter said she was so sick she didn't even care about missing the concert although she is bummed now. I told her I would give her the money to use towards another gift so she is putting it toward a Kindle Fire & is excited about that too.

Thanks for the well-wishes. You are all so kind & lovely ;)
