I am still alive, but have been sick off and on (mostly on) for the last couple of months. Won't go into it now but hubby took me to the doctor today and I hand my antibiotic changed. I look terrible! Got home and hubby wasn't doing well. Chills, falling asleep in his chair. Finally asked him many questions and ended up taking him to ER where he was admitted with his COPD issues and lung infection. Also, he had the rapid flu test and it came back positive. I swear that we have had this virus around here for 2 months.

Then, I have the new computer and have been too sick to even sit and get it set up. Email isn't working yet and many other aspects. Soooo, I am an old woman sitting in my chair waiting to feel better and hoping and praying that the doxycycline works..

I was so cold tonight when I left the hospital and hubby has a different car so I didn't know much about the heater but managed to warm up some. Pumped gas and thought I would free to death. I have morphed into a wimp in my old age. Take care all. Irish

OMG, Irish, that does not sound good. I hope that the two of you get over it soon. My month plus of being sick with the crud, sent me to urgent care and the ER with heart issues. I hope that you do not have those also. Take care of your self and your hubby as best as you can.

Hubby got the Tamiflu today so that should shorten his flu symptoms. The nurse told him to call me and tell me to get it also. Guess even if it is taken after the first 48 hours it still helps. Sooo, I will try to get it tomorrow. I stayed home today and didn't go to the hospital. Just too cold out and I don't feel that good. We were on the phone a lot though. Thank goodness for the cell phones.

He cultured out MRSA from his nose but he hasn't grown any bad stuff in his sputum. Guess the flu hit him hard. He had been trying to keep up with some cooking and dishes, etc and it was hard on him with his frail health. He is keeper. Never complains about anything. Well, maybe once in a while. 8) 8) This has been a hard winter.  Irish

(((Irish and Mr. Irish))) - sorry to hear you both aren't feeling well.  I was so hoping 2013 would be a better year for you and hubby.

Even though I'm sure hubby would enjoy your company while in the hospital - cell phone conversations works too.   ;)  You certainly don't need to pick up any more bugs from the hospital - you know how that place can be a germfest.

Just curious - as a nurse, did you catch a lot of what your patients had?

Rest as best you can, Irish and I hope you get to feeling better ASAP.  Hope hubby feels better too.

Are you guys up in MN getting that lovely weather system that is rolling through?  I'd say if you are - stay in and just phone chat with hubby, he'll understand.  We're expecting it Thursday afternoon/evening.  Yippy Zippy . . . NOT!   :-\

Hugs,

Irish and (Mr. Irish) I like that, thanks Bucky.  I hope to heaven your household can settle down and get a bit better.  I know most of the stuff is chronic, but we don't like to hear from  a tough old girl that she's so sick.  Hope you can keep us up to date once in awhile.  Lucy

I was wondering (and about Sass)!  Hope you are on the mend.  Seems like everyone around me here is sick, then sick again, then sick again.  It's been a tough flu/cold season, on top of everything else our bodies have to deal with.

Yikes - spring can't come soon enough, can it?!  :-\

I am so sorry you guys are going through all this - you must be absolutely EXHAUSTED!!!!! I hope you can get some rest, knowing you've got some stuff in your systems (yours and hubby's) that's helping you fight things off once and for all...

Hopefully in a week or so you will be on the mend, feeling better, and watching the crocuses peeking out from under the frost....

Oh Irish - you are no wimp!!

I'm so sorry you are still feeling so bad and you must be really worried about your hubby too. Flu + COPD = a situation you could do without.

I hope the change in antibiotics help because feeling even a bit fitter yourself will help you cope.

Take care - Scottie  :)

Hubby is supposed to come home tomorrow weather permiting, It is snowing now but isn't all that bad out, Rather a pretty snow. I can't get used to my new keyboard!!!!

I have had an abscess of some kind rupture in my nose/passages, etc. Thankfully it is draining a little. Not enough though. The smell inside my head is terrible. My chest really got better over night though. I will b bet that I could have MRSA. Just a wicked guess cause this whole thing just is different. I started on the Tamaflu today also. Hubby and I have been down ever since his hospitalization in Dec. Shot this winter to you know where and back.

Everybody hang onto your hats cause the bad weather is coming, Irish

Irish, angel, I agree with Scottie...you're no wimp.

This flu virus hitting us all so bad was something not covered by the flu shot, especially for older folks.

I was shocked to be seriously ill twice, once for three weeks at Thanksgiving and once for three weeks or more at Christmas.

And it hangs on and on and on.

It has been a killer for those of us with other conditions, like your hubby.  GLAD you just took the bull by the horns and him directly to the ER.

Has to be done.  But hard to organize and DO, sometimes.

AT least we here in NC aren't having really bad weather.   They delay the start of school by three hours if they THINK it might rain and freeze.

But it never did rain and freeze.   The daffodils are blooming, as are the various fruit trees.

I try to take it a day at a time, dear Irish.  And you want to have thoughts that tell yourself that you are a wonderful, valuable person doing a great job of caring for yourself and the ones you love.

That is true, and can't be repeated often enough.

Hugs

Yep, your absence has been noticed. I'm sorry there wasn't a nice reason for it - like a lovely vacation somewhere with beautiful balmy weather  8)
