Does anyone suffer with this?  My doctor said my irritable bladder is caused by my constipation, but I'm not so sure.

what kind of symptoms do you get with this? During the night i wake up 3-4 times to pee. I have to pee every 1-2 hours too. I have gotten plenty of UTIs before. Every time i think this bladder problem will not go away i get it checked out by the dr. Usually though when i want to get it checked out i having burning too and it ends up being a uti. This happens about 50% of the time. I also have a problem with not voiding out all of the time. I have had numerous ultrasounds where i am told to urinate after they scan me once. I always come back thinking i have peed everything out but i always have between 25% and 50% of urine left in my bladder. I am only 22 and i don't have any reason for this issue.

50 %  of people diagnosed with Sjogren's Syndrome have Interstitial Cystitis, which is an inflammation of the lining of the bladder.

I used to urinate sometime 3-4 times an hour, not every hour but I had the urge to go frequently.  I had no UTI symptoms, no pain and no discomfort.  I just had an active bladder.  Also coffee intake was high which certainly did not help.

For years now I have been on a very low dose of celexa and zyprexa.  For some reason, this stopped the frequent urination - completely resolved it.   Don't know if it's one, the other or the combo but whatever, it stopped.  I am convinced it is attributable to these drugs in my case AND decreasing caffeine.

Hi :)
A urologist dxd me with an irritable bladder. I had to keep a chart for a few days of how much fluid went in and how much came out and how frequently.

they took a look with a cystoscope and decided not a lot was wrong but that I was going far too often. I was offered a minor operation which I turned down and I was advised not to drink coffee, fruit juices or alcohol. They suggested not eating oranges, grapefruit - citrus generally and also tomatoes.

I find that the irritability comes and goes. Some months it is definitely worse than others. I'm lucky in as much as its not painful and during bad months I resort to incontinence pads for safety.

Take care - Scottie  :)

I have this. I thought it was a bladder infection but a round of antibiotics a few months ago didn't cure it. I've held off on going to a specialist because it isn't bothering me that much so far. It comes and goes; I usually only get up once during the night, and I can go several hours sometimes, but other times I go every 20 or 30 minutes, and the quantity is almost nothing even though it felt urgent. It's worst right before I go to bed.

My internet research shows that this is a common occurrence with Sjogren's. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like there's that much that can be done about it. But of course you shouldn't take my word for that!

My symptoms of urgency and pressure come and go.  I've been seeing a nurse continence practitioner who gave me some brilliant tips for some bladder retraining.  Whilst the problem hasn't completely gone, it's improved.  My doctor says it due to my constipation, but I thought differently.  It's interesting to read that Sjogrens could be to blame.

My bladder is worse when I'm constipated. My continence nurse said this is not uncommon as the full bowel (or it could be rectum) puts pressure on the bladder.

Another thouht for the lady who is retaining urine - I had that problem when I had a bladder prolapse. I'm not suggesting you have that, but it's just a thought.
