Ever been stranded without meds

It only took one emergency for me to realize how dependent I am now on meds and drops and my humidifier. My little dog had to be rushed to the vet early this morning 65 miles away, so in the rush to save her I didnt grab the usual supplies. Oh god lets just say all day at the animal hospital without evoxac restasis, therea tears, water bottles, my creon and prilosec and my humidity almost did me in.

God I had no idea how dried up I am till one day without the comforts lol. I am laughing about it now but it was scary to feel so suffocating, choking and dry the whole day, eyes I could barely see out of and hurt so bad. Oh and my baby almost ruptured her bladder they did surgery she is resting but in pain poor thing. I will do anything to save her though, I sped through an ice storm 2 years ago when she severed her leg on an old mason jar in the creek out back. I hope she dont have anymore emergencies, I dont think I will survive lol

When my hubby is taken ill and a trip to ER is immenent I throw my meds, inhalers, etc in my purse along with a bottle of water. I also learned the hard way that a phone cord is always necessary. Just have a hospitalization with a loved one and no phone cord and see how far you can go. lol Irish

This happened to me just last month.  I went to my mom's for a week.  I forgot my restasis.  I just had it refilled or I would have picked up a new prescription while I was there at the local walgreens.  You cannot just get a couple vials!  I went the whole week without my blessed restasis!  Ugh.

On the previous trip to my mom's, I remembered everything but my methotrexate, which I just had refilled.  Thankfully, the local pharmacist filled agreed to fill me enough for my weekly dose.  I just had to pay for it out of pocket. 

I always have some travel anxiety nowadays because of my fear of forgetting an essential medication or drops or gel or whatever.

I have little bits of meds stashed everywhere. In the van, my purse, the window in front of the sink, my suitcase, my extra bag (makeup, brushes etc).  EVERYWHERE. Just two or three restasis vials in your purse along with a week's worth of Salagen or whatever will keep you a-okay in a pinch without refilling $500 worth of meds. Plaquinel--well I could refill that easily for $34. So no biggie there. My purse weighs about 10 pounds but I will never, ever be without meds.

I haven't been stranded without them.  I just can't always remember to take them.  Thank you brain fog!!!   I even have a pill sorter for am/pm sitting on my kitchen counter and can't remember them.

I always have three day's worth of meds in my purse. Plus for my hubby. (The dogs are on their own!) The hard part is remembering to rotate them. And hearing aid batteries. And lip balm. Lots and lots of lip balm. And hand lotion. And cell phone. And wall charger. And car charger. And Swiss Army knife. And little screwdrivers for my instruments. (Every woodwind horn comes with one screw that WILL work itself loose. It is some sort of requirement.) And so on.

I don't keep stuff in the car. It gets too hot and too cold and will ruin it.

I've have a full set of meds in my car. However, the climate here in the UK is not as severe as many other places, so I'm not too worried about it being spoiled. I also carry spare tablets/drops/inhalers in my bag.

ive got several drops in my purse plus about 10 or so in my makeup bag plug my pill box which contains a few days of the "impt" meds... gladu got thru it ok! 
plus i keep the impt meds except my fish oil (even tho that is impt) in one bag in my hallway closet..helpful in case im ever in the hospital and someone needs to get my stuff etc.

I keep extra meds in my purse just for this type of thing as well as just plain forgetting to take them with me in the first place.

I to carry a suitcase sized purse, ok so hubby carries it a lot of time, but it goes where I go.  The last two times I took a smaller purse were disasters, one I had my wallet stolen and right before that I forgot to take my morning meds if I carry my big one I have it all with me, even the hubbys stuff.  So while it may not be the perfect fashion statement its all the statement I need.

P.S.  they wouldn't of been able to reach in and grabbed my wallet in my big one

Everyone laughs at my med storage. I keep my meds in an old Fraggle Rock lunch box. It actually holds most meds. If it doesn't fit it will in my purse. I keep a days worth in my purse also, except for inhalers which I can't just take a lil of.    If I think I will be gone when it's meds time I take my box. On the bright side it is a great conversation starter.

That's a brilliant idea, Wicked.

I currently keep my regular meds in a tupperware box, but could easily change it to a lunch box with a handle, so that I can keep it with me. In fact, I have an insulated lunch box that I bought years ago from Lakeland. That would probably be better.

As Jpd said I cant remember if I took them sometimes also. I have a pill box thing and I am constantly looking in it to count pills and see if I took them. Now the restasis is another story, right now I am pondering did I use it this morning or not.

With the meds that I take one dose a day, I have the containers out where I can see them. I turn them after I take them, right-side up...then up-side down.
So odd days the bottom of the container is up after I take it/ even days the container shows the cap side up after I take it.

I can just glance at them and know I took them. If I take two doses I put the other on top of the container.

I have extras in the car. For an overnight I use a large clear cosmetic bag..I need to see what is in there...drives me crazy when I have to keep opening things to check that I have everything
