Ugh! I'm soooo sleepy

I haven't felt like this in a long time and had thought maybe the plaquenil was working but since the holidays I've been so sleepy.  We didn't work from Dec. 23 until Jan. 2.  During that time, I found myself to feel lazy.  I used to wake up on my days off around 7am the latest.  But during this break, I was sleeping in until 10 or even 11am!  It isn't that I wore myself out by over doing it.  I just was feeling lazy and tired.  Now that I'm back to work, I'm soooo tired.  I just want to put my head on my desk and sleep.  I'm going to try to rest during my lunch break in 15 minutes and take a cat nap.

Am I starting into a flare up?  I've also noticed some pain in my bones again too.  I guess I need to figure out what a definition of a flare up is.
Plaquenil (generic), vitamin D, Amitriptyline, Citalopram

Uggg...the winter Blahhhs!!! When I was working (Still miss it  :'()  I would sit outside or if it was too cold, I am in the North, in my car with the heater on medium, mood music  :) and the window open (window needs to be open to get the 'D') and my arm out to get Vit D ...and even the walk to the car helped.
Set you cell phone alarm ... in case you fall asleep.

I also put brighter, natural lights in home where I sit...doesn't have to be everywhere. Put the energy saver lights in the bathroom. Replaced the expensive 'dulL' glob lights in the bathroom with 25w = 100 lum; so it is really bight in there. Great in the morning ... and when I put make-up on it is more like outside light, the application is right.

I hope thats all it is QD, winter blahs. For a few weeks now I am getting so tired around the same time everyday, about 4 or 5 pm I start to nod off and feel really sleepy. At first I thought is was a return to the fatigue I had over the summer, but then I thought fatigue from when I was just getting diagnosed was all the time..not just a certain time of the day.

Tivia: You are getting tired everyday at about the same time. Listen to your body. Take a nap. Pick a time that will not interfere with you nighttime sleep schedule.
I have to take one around 1 or 2, otherwise I know I am setting myself up to crash for a day or two.
4-5 pm it is dark here...your natural Melatonin, may be signaling your brain to sleep, the bright lights will thwart the production. Just a thought.   It won't hurt to try.  Nap after lunch, turn on bright lights.

But, I also know that with the weaker sun, and so many gray day in winter ... I turn into a slug and can get depressed even with Cymbalta.  I do not want another label, Seasonal Affective Disorder, and I do not want more drugs,  I just take a book and sit in the sun for awhile and have 'me' time in a healthy way. I even put a comforter on the floor where the sun comes in and nap there (you will not get Vit D that way ) the warmth feels good. And change the type/brightness of light bulbs.

When I worked.. in the classroom I hardly ever sat at the desk, I would hang out by the window, standing helped me stay alert...and I would go home and crash.

The whole point is to learn about the body and mind you have now...to avoid, lessen a flare.

The holiday, esp, Christmas, even when we do not physically over do, are for many a stressful time. Memories, some are alone, flurry of contacts in person and by phone...a lot of activity.

It used to take me a week to get over it. Before I got Dx'd I had already seen the constant trend of this crash after Christmas. Winter in and of itself can be difficult. Make adjustments to better your quality of life.

Tomorrow I work at home and can take a nap :)  But next week, I may try going out and taking a nap in the van pool van.  I get the honors of parking it every day so it will be nice to stretch out...and I must remember my phone alarm.  The office lights bother me.  There is a lot of windows but unfortunately I don't sit near one right now.  But I may sneak into one of the conference rooms and work for awhile.

I will try and take a nap, but for some reason ever since being told I have this illness I have a fear of sleep. Well maybe not a fear but the feeling time is short and sleeping will waste whats left...man I have issues lol

Good timing on this topic.  I just mentioned to my husband that I feel better when I am busy .

With my work the Holidays are extra busy.  I know I've slowed down some so this year I was a little extra behind but I managed to get everything done.  Once the Holidays wound down and I had time to slow down I felt  lazy and tired.  Getting up  later and later, no motivation, no energy, hurting a little more.
For me, it seems like if I can keep my momentum going I do better.  Once I slow down it's getting harder and harder to get back up to speed.  My thought is that it must be the adrenaline keeping me going ?

I typically hope for more time off to relax, maybe I should rethink that and be happy that I can still stay busy and feel fairly good, no doubt thanks to Plaquenil.

If you have changed any medications, the sleepiness could be from that as well. I was on something that had be so exhausted at 3 PM that it was all I could do to go up the stairs to take a nap. I don't remember what it was, but when I got off of it, that went away.

At the time of the first real swine flu pandemic I got the vaccine for it. Some time after that I became immensely tired. I mean t.i.r.e.d. I could've slept about 28 hours a day. In the morning I got up (somehow...), left for work - almost fell asleep during my 15 min drive - and was ready to fall asleep as soon as my butt hit the chair. And often I did sleep, too. After lunch there was another  crash, then home late afternoon - just to fall asleep again. At some point I got awake a bit just to hit the sack again. It was just awful!

My thyroid levels were a bit down (but still within the "frame") but other than that nothing could be found. I even suspected narcolepsy because there were several cases in Finland where young people had developed narcolepsy after getting the vaccination. Anyway, since nothing was found wrong with me, I was yet again slapped with a depression diagnosis...

Now, since getting the sjögrens dx last summer, I'm convinced that the swine flu vaccination activated this illness in me and the tiredness was because of it, together with the slightly off thyroid levels.
