Bad experience with Imitrex!

I took Imitrex for the 1st time last night.  I took it at bedtime and an hour later I woke up with this excruciating feeling in my arms.  Like my arms were being ripped from my shoulder sockets and were inflamed!!! My heart was racing wildly and I thought I was going to have to call an ambulance.  I was home alone with my daughter and didn't want to do that b/c I knew it were scare her to death.  So I tried to throw up any of the meds that I could.  I had to prop myself up in the bed b/c everytime I laid down the pain in my shoulders and arms got worse.  I prayed and prayed that I would fall asleep and it would pass.  Eventually it did.  I will admit that the headache was much better this morning but definitely NOT worth what I went through last night.  I will never ever take Imitrex again! Ever. (That kind of sounded like Taylor Swift! ahha).

Anyone else have an experience like that?

Wow... that is frightening!!! I used to take Imitrex all the time. I no longer have migraines. WHEW!! Your reaction is scary because it could have been your heart reacting!!!

I just spoke with the nurse at my Neurologists office and she very firmly instructed me to NOT take the Imitrex again.  Hmmm, no worries there.  I don't plan on it.  She is looking at other options.

I hope you can find something that works for you!!! I used to have such horrible headaches.

Wow, what an awful experience! I hate taking new drugs for fear of having a dreadful side effect.  When I get a new drug, I spend a few days having a panic attack before I even take the first dose.  Hope you find a good alternative.
