Plaquenil and hair loss?

Is anyone else taking Plaquenil and loosing hair?  My hair seems to be coming out one little handful at a time.

I have not taken it but others have said this can happen. I think after about 6 months it stabilizes. One of the ladies that had the problem should be along to answer it. I will say this, my hair falls out a lot I have to clear the shower drain like 3 times when I shower. I think it may be sjs related also

I didn't notice it with plaquenil, but once they put me on Mtx I sure did! One of the many lovely side effects of this stuff

Hair loss was one of my early symptoms; Plaquenil helped some with the amount of hair I was losing, and when I had to go off the Plaquenil in June, I lost so much hair within about six weeks that I started having to wear wigs. So for me, Plaquenil actually helped with my hair loss.

I have a feeling Plaquenil is attributing to my hair loss. I also don't know if it's also because the length is longer now and falls out more, but I've counted at least 75 strands in the shower and some hair in the drain. Wonder how many strands I lose during the rest of the day. I did read that the average person loses at least 100 strands a day. I do try to wash my hair every other day sometimes. I did start taking biotin supplements and eating those fruits & vegetables that are good for hair, skin, & nails.

Someone else told me he started losing his hair on Plaquenil as well.

Glad to hear that after 6mos. it may slow down.

yea, my hair is shedding at an increasing rate - but I am not sure what is causing it. Could be the meds or it could be sjogren's.

I have a drain catcher in the shower and have to clean it out several times before I am done.
