Hi all,

I'm not from America/UK (don't really want to disclose where exactly as it's not relevant) and we seem to be the last to get medications approved. We don't have Restasis or Salagen.

I was thinking about the possibility of buying these medications online. But there's a very strong part of me saying 'no this is dangerous'!

I'm wondering if anyone has bought either Restasis or Salagen online? If so, where did you buy it? And any general comments on buying medications online would be helpful.

Thanks.

Personally, I have never bought prescription medication on line,  =My husband get his vitamins and supplements for a place, but we are allowed to say here..I will find out and PM you later today...I used to buy them from a prescription place on my insurance program thru the mail, but I don't think that is what you are meaning. But I will get that name for you too.

Wish I could help more from here.....~sass~

On the other hand, you have nothing to lose by trying. Do you have a friend in an approved country who could send it to you? You order and pay for it, have it shipped to him/her, then they send it to you.

One potential problem is the conditions under which it is shipped.

Salagen is available on prescription in the UK - specifically for Sjogren's. See http://www.medicines.org.uk/guides/salagen/sj%C3%B6gren's%20syndrome

I'm not allowed it because of my asthma, but I understand some people are okay with it.

I think it is illegal to send those drugs to a country where it is not allowed. I know my husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer which was very agressive. We decided that if surgery did not / could not remove the cancer completely we would move to another country as the drug THC which is a byproduct of weed, is used very successfully with hormone driven cancers. It is not however legal in the US (because of the relationship to an illegal drug) and it is illegal to have someone send it to me. They and I could be arrested... blah blah blah...

Our plans are to move if needed to get the treatment he would need. BUT... so far so good and today he went for his 2 year check up... awaiting test results!

THC is a "controlled substance," which is a whole other kettle of fish than pilocarpine. That makes a huge difference.

It is not even a drug study in the US. It is the oil that is used which causes the cancer cells to 'eat' themselves. Available in most Asian and European countries, the ACS states there are no studies due to it being associated to pot. HOWEVER, I was in Barcelona and got a terrible sinus infection. Went to pharmacy, bought antibiotics and was fine. I took them on the plane with me and upon entering the US, they were taken and I was lectured for over an hour on how I could and should be arrested, etc, because a Dr did not prescribe the antibiotic to me. It is not needed in Europe to have a Dr order it. As I only needed one more day of the medicine, it was not an issue, however it is the closest I have been to being arrested, though maybe because I was NOT HAPPY with the reception I had upon returning to my home country. I am sure that screaming match left them shaking their heads and hoping I would leave again and stay away.  :-\

Thanks everyone.

Kathy, that's another thing I'm worried about. I have asthma and a few other conditions and on quite a few medications. So the chance that one of these could interact with something I'm already taking/a condition I have could be quite high.

I guess it was just wishful thinking.

Thanks everyone.

It can be difficult with asthma, but one of my other drugs also has the same side effect. We introduced it cautiously, while I had someone staying with me ,in case of problems, and it's been fine. So, it might be worth having a chat with your GP or asthma doctor.

There are a large number of potential interactions, but that does not mean that in you, personally, they will happen. My husband and I both are taking medications that could cause negative interactions, but do not in us.
