I am glad that I am at the end of a very challenging day. I know that some of you may have had similar experiences in your life.

I woke this morning feeling that something was a bit off. I had breakfast and waited for Jan to come home from work. She came home and had to unlock the door to get in the house. We visited a few minutes and then she got ready to go out and mow the lawn while I got ready for my dentist appointment.

The mower ran for a few minutes and then quit. About 20 minutes later I decided to go check on her. The keys were not on the hook so I went out. The door closed behind me. I saw that she had bent the blade severely. I turned back to get into the house. The door was locked. We checked all the windows and they were locked.

In my frustration I remembered that we had left two keys with our daughter and her husband. I called my daughter first and left a message. I then called her husband and left a message. He called back first and said that he did not have a key but it may be at his house. He came from work and picked us up, then drove us to their home. We spent the afternoon waiting for him to come back from his doctor appointments. I called my dentist to cancel my appointment for the day. I sent my daughter some text messages since she usually responds to those.

We had to wait until they both got home. Together they looked through every key they had and brought us all back to our house. The third key tried, opened the door. I still have to fix the lawnmower.

Sheeeesh Joe, What a crappy day. There--I said it. I heard a saying many years ago that says it well. Some days we get the bear and some days the bear gets us. These type of days just go down as experience!!!! Hope you get the blade fixed. Irish

engy

oh yes, I've had those days. I hate locking myself out too! I'm sorry your day was so long  &  stressful but glad it is over & a new day begins!

Good luck with your mower, Carie

Here's hoping you never have a day like that again, Joe.  Take things easy today okay?

I had a similar thing happen to me many years ago.  I was much younger and more agile then so I decided to climb through the small bathroom window that was open.   :)  Not as easy as it sounds.  Broke my rib as a result.  And why was I so desperate to get back into the house?

Well, I had a doctor appointment I didn't want to miss.   ;)   Ouch!

Joe, that sounds like a nightmare day. I'm glad youfinaly got back in. Hope the lawnmower doesn't take to long to mend.

I have the new parts for the lawn mower and hope to repair it tomorrow. Things are back to "normal", I think.

Joe - not a very fun day at all!  Hmmm, perhaps you should consider hiding a key somewhere outside should this happen again?!?   ;)

Don't overdo it repairing the mower.  We haven't mowed in weeks - it's too dry.

Take care,
Bucky

After watching TV yesterday I put the new blade on. Of course I had to check the quality of my repair. So I started the mower. Well then I pushed it out on the back yard. I know that I should not have done it but I ended up mowing the small back yard.

Earlier in the day, I went to the doctor and saw the Xrays of my leg. One of the screws has broken. The metal rod had dropped 1/4 - 1/2 of an inch. Bone appears to be healing "well".

Joe, you couldn't resist it, could you? Did you feel pleased with yourself afterwards?

What re the implications for the screws slipping? Will you need more surgery?

Kathyx

Joe S.

He said that they usually remove the screws after a bit but since one broke they would just leave them in.

Get to check back with him in one month for  another set of Xrays. The new bone is taking the shape of a mass that is including the broken pieces. It is growing to include the bone that was floating.

They're going to leave the broken screw in there permanently? Is that what you mean?

Well, if so, one thing is for sure...when you get checked at the airport, you're gonna looooooove the romantic moves of those all too loving and arousing pat downs they're gonna give you.

Make sure you bring them wine and flowers!

Joe S.

The rod would be enough to set them off. I believe the screws are plastic.
